Not the OP, but it's annoying when characters are put into games/movies/tv shows just to make a social or political statement. We've had great games with black and female characters, like GTA San Andreas and tomb raider, and no one complains even to this day because they were proper characters, not part of an agenda.

No one cares that they are black, they care that the character being black/female is pushed as the main/very important aspect of the characters.
Lara Croft is female as was Jade from Beyond Good and Evil.
CJ from San Andreas is black, as are a shit ton of fighting game characters.
But they were characters that had a personality but also happened to be black/female.
A lot of these characters seem to focus strongly on the fact they're black/female, as if it's a really important factor.

That's the first I heard about the Fallout 4 thing, and I followed that game a lot.
It's not a conspiracy theory, and I'm not claiming this happens all the time, but it's becoming more and more common to see a new character pushed based on their ethnicity, gender or sexuality.

They're fucking games, a medium where some of the most beloved characters have been a yellow ball (I'm sure the fact he's called Pac-MAN really annoys you though so maybe that doesn't count), a hedgehog (again male so maybe you wouldn't count it) and a blue robot.

The current Xbox E3 3 day conference things have topics like "Black/Hispanics in video games" and "Women in video games".
Surely if it's a "bigger deal than I make it out to be" then they wouldn't focus solely on those aspects? If this wasn't an industry-backed political correctness push then why the fuck is the Xbox brand itself pushing for how "diverse" they are?
