Not gonna argue with the pure sex-appeal character, I don't mind some of that in my games. But like every other piece of a game, it's got to fit in with the bigger picture.

The problem with Quiet was it was so tonally dissonant with the rest of the game. You're doing this whole VERY SERIOUS mil-sim game, where everyone is super serious all the time, and then you just throw in this random cheesecake. It doesn't make any sense. It doesn't fit the game OR the character, at all. The "explanation" is an all time high for silliness in a series that has had plenty.

Of course, it's completely insane. But Quiet's design isn't the same flavor of insanity as the rest of the series. It doesn't jive. Like the scene where she uses her rifle to shoot the pilot of a flying fighter jet? That's MGS insanity all the way. It fits perfectly. And that's just it - she's written into the game as a superhero badass (like everyone else), but her character design looks like a please-save-me-hero helpless chick.

That's not really how that works, though.
You can write a story for a game where everyone thinks and acts like they're in some hyper competitive, classy pure artform figure skating competition and then have the gameplay be rugrats: reptar on ice.
Just because the characters think or act a specific way doesn't mean that the actual gameplay or overall tone follows that distinction.

I mean it wasn't as blatantly outlandish as Revengeance and it did try and "serious" it up at some points through the game, but it still had the meme bad guy in Skullface and the games mechanics allows for really ridiculous interactions that were entirely purposeful and placed into the game.
