I enjoy browsing /pol/. I wish I could change your mind about the subject of the board but I do agree that especially since 2014 it has become more and more shit.
However you must admit that a lot of the derails happen, especially on other boards, because someone posts a vaguely political opinion that happens to be right wing and 4-5 posters jump onto it with replies accusing that poster of being from /pol/ and then before you know it the thread is unsalvageable.
Better moderation is needed both in /pol/ and out of it. A good portion of the problem are /r/the_donald "crusaders" that can't function if a black person is in a videogame, but the fact that so many people fall for obvious bait and easily identifiable shitposts just compounds the issue.
