After watching e3 so far, and anticipating the upcoming sony/nintendo conference, i am so adamant on making games.
Say what you want about it, but just watching millions of people getting hype at your game, and watching them play AND enjoy it.... i really crave for this kind of feeling. I'd love to see people enjoy the game I make.
Are you working on your game, /v/?
If not, get on it!
this thread's gonna die very fast between two conferences
I'm taking a break for E3, but lately I've been developing a new locomotion method for VR games. Now I gotta figure out what to DO with it...

yeah i kinda figured, i was just so excited and shit
Reminder that going to university is the best thing you can do (despite the fucking costs, I know).
Don't quit and give your spot to Xian Juangchingadingadong, so you can attempt some moonshot.
working on a few right now. here is a preview of my game coming out this year
>>379946672
But what university?
And is it really worth it? Cant you learn all these gamedev things on the internet?
>>379947287
learn online, going to university is the dumbest thing you can do for game dev
>>379944993
i didnt work on my game for atleast 3 days now.
im just feeling realy unmotivated right now
>>379944993
I'm roughly a week or two away from releasing a demo. I'm pretty excited.
Just ironing out a couple things and having some friends playtest while I balance the game according to their feedback.
>>379946958
Looks dope man, keep at it.
>>379946421
i guess i'll post my game anyway
prepared this area for the boss fight lately
>>379944993
It did feel pretty heart warming when people were enjoying the fuck out of my demo to the point that they called their friends over to try it out.
We'll all make it one day, brahs
>>379944993
I had the opposite reaction.
Most of these "indie" games they're showing have budgets. Even if it's a 6 person team, that's 4 more then I have.
It's not fair :/
>>379948397
r-right
>>379946958
I like this
>>379948150
what happens if one player jumps in the head of the other? if nothing, you think incorporating something wouldn't fit?
>>379948004
>>379950564
thanks. i hope you like going fast
I'm a fucking idiot so I thought I would make a game in Unity but I still need to learn coding.
I don't care how shit I am, I'm gonna try even if I create the shittiest game ever.
>>379951347
nothing happens
i'm considering adding player interaction but it'd be optional (called by some kind of player input)

Sure am /v/ working on a huge new level and watching my kickstarter funds go up slowly but surely.
>>379946958
looks like a better version of marble blast, that shit was my jam back in high school
Currently plinking along with Unreal. My PC is crap so running both Visual Studio and Unreal Editor causes things to be super slow.
I'm working on my game's boat and dialogue systems right now. I just have 5 enemy animations left and I can start constructing levels.
If I wanted to make a fighting game, where should I start learning?
>>379944993
I finished my game. I don't think I presented it very well but I'm not sure if anyone would give a shit even if I did.
https://hex4f.itch.io/ghost-crash
I'm not sure what to take away from this other than that I should make a more interesting looking game next time.
>>379953770
Are you making 3d or 2d in terms of movement?
How many buttons for normal hits?
Is it especially difficult to make an MMO?
>>379953770
Learn regular programming concepts, like variables and loops.
Learn Object Oriented programming, which is best for games.
Learn game-related concepts, like core loops, hitboxes, and state machines.
Start with a simple game, like breakout.
Make something with AI, like Gradius.
Make something with humanoid AI, like Bad Dudes.
Now you can make the player and enemy behavior more complicated. Time for a fighting game.
>>379953947
I wanted to make it something like Street Fighter.
2.5D, in unreal.
>>379954197
Wowza.
Here I go
Sure am.
Working on the level 2 miniboss. You can disable individual parts of it and the other remaining parts will try and pick up the slack.
>>379946421
These threads either stick around for 10 hours or die quickly, not much in-between.
Working on an RPG right now called Ballslayer. It's still a while away, but I'm having fun making it if nothing else.
>>379944993
I don't make games myself, but please mother fuckers, PLEASE, make games that you actually find enjoyable.
After seeing E3 so far, I just can't believe the devs actually find their content enjoyable. Please make content that is fun.
>>379954476
Hey, looks good man. Looks hard.
Keep up the great work!
>>379954939
Thanks anon!
>>379954024
It's the hardest genre to make, period.
If you have to ask, you shouldn't try to make one.
>>379956584
...okay
>>379956836
Don't count it out entirely, but also don't start with it as your first project. Get some experience with related games. If you wanted to make a shooter MMO, start with a single player FPS, then work up to multiplayer, then once you have the experience and connections, look into it. MMO is a big step, and it needs to be worked towards.
posted this in a horror thread last night and got tons of posts showing interest. Not one shitpost. It was amazing. Hopefully I'll be able to turn it into something interesting enough to satiate people's need for a decent deep sea horror game.
