Why do studios always resort to that 2D linework style for comic book adaptations? Blacksad has more in common with a Disney film from the 80s and film noir than it does typical comic books.

I think the artist explained it was on purpose, as some sort of allegory about women being special in a noir setting or whatever.

It's mostly done with women characters that are meant to have sex appeal for Blacksad and such. Every now and then they draw one that doesn't look like a human with makeup, like the cute skunk chick that Weekly tried to flirt with. She even had a tail.
