Battlefront isn't a period piece, there's no requirement that it be 100% accurate.

I like the notion that I can play whatever hero I want on any map, rather then being stick with the potentially boring ass choices they give me.

I distinctly remember certain maps on old school BF where heroes just didn't get used because the selection was lame.

There is the option for 2 heroes per side in the selection menu. Obviously Rey Han and Boba are there just to showcase all eras. Final version will have Yoda (confirmed) and Padme (probably), and Maul (confirmed) and maybe Jango (his ship at least is confirmed).

Canon version of naboo is droid army with tanks vs abos and palace security.
Even in relic Battlefront 2 it was a separate 'fun' mode called hunt. Regular map had clones and droids.

Also the only maps i personally care about are geonosis, utapau, felucia (blow), hoth, endor and space battles. Everything else, especially theed is just there for fun anyway.

- BF 1/2 were fun to play by themselves because of the hefty custom game support with decent bots, along with Galactic Conquest mode. The "story mode" in BF2 was still images with a voiceover, and it was still fun because it provided neat scenarions in lieu of a deep story. I'm not really excited to play as another EU Mary Sue in a generic FPS plot if the game around it is exactly the same as NuBF was.

- The finesse it took to make BF1/2 feel alive was lost in NuBF; instead of spawning in a hanger you spawn ships as a bonus drop, Instead of picking spawn points from a map where you can see how the match is evolving, you just spawn at random. You feel like you're playing a video game, and not experiencing a moment, so the game is way less fun overall.
I don't feel like they learned the right lessons from the whining over the last game. The loudest screams sort of averaged out to "make single player story" and they evened it out by adding more fanservice.

I know for a fact thats a lie based on what I saw the entire process with TOR. The most they did across all alpha/beta testing was fix bugs.

We literally got access to the entire game beginning to end and the entire time people in chat kept screaming

If you're talking about battlepoints in the new one, and needing points to unlock classes in the battle, from the earlier one that that was completely different.
Back then you would need a set amount of points to unlock the next classes permanently in the game, while now, you earn points that you spend on new classes, heroes, vehicles and ships. Back then it was a simple mechanic to make sure that not everyone was running around as a droideka at the start of the game, while now it makes a huge part of the game revolve around just getting these battlepoints, and i hope they dont fucking add "Battlepoints boost" microtransaction.
Also i was talking about the fact that you can appearently get XP to level up your classes and "prestige" them to get upgraded extra shit, but you can just preorder or probably use microtransactions to get them.
