Kind of similar, in Devil Daggers once you level up enough your magic-dagger-shotgun alt fire becomes more like a cannon which is useful for sniping enemies from far away.

I think you could use 8x actually, this was a lot of fun if you could get used to the massive bullet drop and fast damage drop off.
