Is the ps4 pro worth the upgrade? I already have a ps4, but I also have a 4k tv.
>>
>>379780376
No.

FFS, it doesn't play games in 4k. It just plays videos in 4k. That's it. Unless you're going to be using it for streaming 4k videos, no fucking point in buying it.
>>
>>379780376
It depends on what you expect out of the "upgrade." Most PS4 Pro upgrades provide higher resolution and HDR but no performance boost in 4k. Your games that run at 1080p30 on PS4 will probably run at 4k30 on PS4 Pro. Wipeout Omega runs at 4k60 but that's probably going to end up being a one-in-a-million occurrence.

So yes if you want 4k, no if you're expecting 60fps.
>>
>>379780650
Oh. Well my tv is a "smart tv" that has Netflix, Hulu, etc built in so their 4k content is a native signal i.e. no cables, ports, or extra devices
>>
>>379781076
That anon is retarded, PS4 Pro does play (some) games at 4k. He's probably thinking of the Xbox One S which only plays 4k video, not 4k games.
>>
Some games have the option of 1080p60 if the developers put it in. Or 4k30, usually checkerboard though. Some games like Rocket League do 4k60.
>>
Probably not. If you don't already own a ps4 and are getting one, a pro is worth it but if you already own one it's hard to justify the purchase.
>>
>>379780376
I have both the original and Pro PS4 and whilst there is a slight improvement on the Pro, is it worth upgrading? Probably not but I would highly recommend the Pro to a newcomer. Unless you have excess cash to burn or your PS4 is dying then I probably wouldn't. I do love the Pro though,
>>
>>379781208
There are no 4k games you stupid fuck. Most gaming PCs aren't capable of playing 4k.

Kill yourself
>>
>>379780376
It's worth it if you got the cash to blow. It's not worth it if you're strapped.

It's pretty nice, but not all games got support. It does make a difference when applicable. People bitch about fake 4K, but Horizon is fucking insane. I've never seen a game with visuals that good.

It's luxury, basically.
>>
>>379782214
Yeah. 4K = blanket term for UHD. I think. Correct me if I'm wrong.
>>
Can you afford to spend 400$ on a resolution upgrade?

Then go for it, even if some games aren't "true" 4k they still look significantly nicer than 1080p

and pretty much every big game from now on is guaranteed support, because why not?
>>
>>379782770
Some people use it that way, and likewise some games run at resolutions that are above 1080p on PS4 Pro but not 4k. A few games run at true 4k but like I said earlier they don't get a performance bump, so they just look sharper.
>>
>>379783134
I do like the option to prioritize framerate over visuals. I feel like that's the future of console gaming.
>>
ks8000 and ps4 pro owner here.

Difference in negligible. Wait for scorpio.
>>
The PS4 Pro was a mistake and Sony are idiots for actually going through with it instead of just releasing the cheaper slim by itself.
>>
>>379783365
Yeah, but why? Sony has the exclusives.

I'm not biased, btw. I got no loyalty.
>>
>>379782214
The Last of Us renders at a native 2160p on PS4 Pro, as does Fifa 17, NBA 2K17, and several others

No debating this. No checkerboarding. They render at native 2160p/4K.
>>
>>379784160
A remaster of a ps3 game and shitty sports games. Wew.

so far it hasn't been worth it. Games practically look and run the same and the few games that support 4k are actually upscaled from 1800p or sometimes 1400p to 2160p(4k).

>made by Sony, the company that manufactures 4K blu ray players
>can't play 4K movie discs but the new xbone can
Seriously what the fuck? Didn't they win a war against HD DVD a decade ago just for that right?
>>
>>379784789
Just shut up. You got BTFO.
>>
>>379785074
Btfo by mediocrity.
>>
>>379785074
How did he get BTFO? That's a sad amount of 4k games.
>>
>>379785010
1800p upscaled to 4k looks pretty good, much better than 1080p to 4k if he has a 4k tv. Some tvs and monitors scale 1080p content really good since it's a 4:1 upscale but most dont
>>
>>379782214
stop lying even my gtx960m laptop can play berseria at 4k30fps
>>
>>379784789
>it doesn’t count because I said so
>after stating as a fact that there are no native 4k games
>>
>>379785580
>30fps
?????????????????
>>
>>379783297
Some games let you do that on PS4 Pro but it's not very good. The PS4 Pro has a nice GPU but its CPU might as well be the same as the PS4's so games that do get a framerate bump in 1080p usually go from 30 to 45 or so, not 60. The Surge can be played at 1080p60 on Pro while it's 1080p30 on regular PS4 but that's a rare example.
>>
>>379780376
Horizon Zero Down at chekerboarding 4K looks glorious
>>
>>379780376
I actually think the ps4 pro is worth for 4k tv, if not just for the upscaling.
>>
>>379785062
seriously
if it did, i would buy a ps4 pro
>>
As an upgrade? No. If you don't have a ps4? Sure, why not. The amount of games coming out with pro patches is totally worth the extra cash. That said, the slim model for $250 is probably more appealing. I don't regret my pro, it looks pretty swell for the game that support it, and I had the cash on hand to buy it at the time. My only wish is that it was a bit quieter.
>>
>Is it worth the upgrade?

Not really.

If you have to get a new system because your old one is having problems, then I would recommend it. I know my PS4 has been a notoriously nasty fucker when it comes to dust and I have had to disassemble it and clean it on a couple of dozen occasions since launch. After a good cleaning it chugs like new though, so it will probably last a while yet.

To be honest, I would recommend a PS4 Pro to new buyer, someone who needs a new system because their old one is about to die, or someone who really wants to get into the whole PS VR thing pretty heavy because it does tax the piss out of a vanilla PS4.
>>
>>379780376
Worth the upgrade? No.
Worth buying one if you don't have a ps4 already? Yes.
>>
>>379785301
Because he claimed it didn't play 4K games you thick skullled mongoloid, learn to fucking read.

Typical Sony fan resorting to name calling when they feel threatened. Glad these aren't the people I have to play with when I play online games. What a sad community.
>>
You'll get 60fps on games that support it and the rest of the games won't tax the hardware so much, ergo it could have a longer lifespan

Plus it's basically mandatory for VR.
>>
>>379787242
>Still pushing the console war in 2k17.

The last decade called, anon. It wants you to grow up
>>
>>379782214
>Trying this hard and being this fucking wrong
Man the second hand embarrassment almost makes me want to kill myself, I can't even imagine what you feel like right now.
>>
>>379780376
No its not, few games are actually 4k and the only thing you're really getting is sub real 4k and only slightly more FPS but not a whole lot. This is because devs have to make games for both PS4 and PS4pro and the pro isn't the priority
>>
Should I get a PS4 Pro if I have a PSVR?
>>
>>379785062
I think it's more telling of just how bad UHD Bluray movies are selling that Sony didn't include it. They know exactly how much they're selling and it's probably not a lot.
>>
>>379788109
I asked a simple question and you resorted to name calling because your brand loyalty felt threatened. I didn't even say what I game on so who's pushing console wars again?
>>
>>379788176
Embarrassed for stupid niggers like you. No such thing as 4K console gaming stupid fuck. Only upscaled shit.
