Guys how do you emulate old mobile java games on modern day smartphones?

Android Studio SDK comes with an emulator, you can download all kinds of OS images for it, even decade old Android OSes.
I don't know how good is the compatibility with games, though.

Some time ago I've used a web page that converted java games to an APK for easy use in Android. I guess it basically merges the emulator and the java game. Not the best solution but it worked, played Doom RPG 1 and 2, Wolf RPG and Orcs and Elves.

That's what I did to take the screenshot. To say the least, it's finicky on Android 5. In DOOM RPG, most of the sounds didn't even play.

Well, it's not exactly the same thing but you could always look into DoomRL, it's pretty neat for those times when you crave turn-based Doom action.
