Works well as a Gamecube and N64 lite due to backwards compativility and VC, and has its own fair share of games that range from great to just alright, like Xenoblade, Mario Galaxy, Brawl, online Mario Kart and Pokemon Battle Revolution and other spinoffs. With mods you also have access to some really nice fanmade content like Newer Super Mario Bros. and Project M. I still prefer the PS3 and 360 in terms of third party games, since the Wii's worse processing power meant that there were far less games that were made for that system, or games had to be gimped to work (compare Dead Rising 360 to Wii, it's a huge step down in quality). Despite that, it's a fun system if you want first party Nintendo games, or missed out on the Gamecube.

The 3DS makes up for it with themes, if you get a good one it'll look pretty interesting

Library was underappreciated by both casual Nintenbros who somehow thought the Wii U was better, and hardcore/niche fans of other systems who passed over the Wii because the top sellers were casual shit like Wii Sports and Wii Fit. It had one of the best Fire Emblems, one of the best Capcom Vs games, the last good Metroid game, the successor to the Xeno series, a Sin & Punishment sequel out of fucking nowhere, and plenty of fun new stuff like Zack & Wiki, No More Heroes, FFCC Crystal Bearers and Captain Rainbow.

Both of these points are factually wrong, the game almost does a good job in both departments but because they let Sawano run wild with the soundtrack, almost every battle theme is either atrocious nu-metal raprock or "inspirational" j-rock, and you spend a LOT of fucking time listening to these songs throughout the course of the game. It takes you out of the mood completely when you engage a boss and get the equivalent of "DON'T LOSE YOUR WAAAAAAY" instead of something that would actually fit the tone of the game.

Most of the characters get no development or focus outside of a few side quests. Lao, Elma and Lin are basically the only characters with any story focus, with Lin being a "LET'S EAT TATSU" joke dispenser so it becomes a toss up over whether or not you like Lao and/or Elma. I won't argue over them, some people prefer one over the other, some people hate them both, but they were at the very least fucking characters compared to everyone else. Most of X's cast is about on par with Sharla, who is a non-character throughout most of Xenoblade.
