I haven't played any of the 3DS games and don't plan to. Their gameplay design got extremely dumbed down and the aesthetics of both the X/Y and Sun/Moon unique pokemons don't appeal to me very much.

mmmm well, I'll give my opinion here I guess. I dont own a 2ds/3ds, last nintendo system I owned and played was a DS years before 3ds was a thing. I was a kid then. All these years later I have a big backlog of PC/and other console games to go through and I can only give so much time to games. If I WERE to get back into pokemon it would be just for casual "catch them all", and a nice solid singleplayer endgame like when FR/LG had seviii islands and emerald had battlefrontier.

As for why I dont want to try out competitive scene? I remember when online battling was introduced in gen 4 and I was destroyed very easily, starting with gen 4 the community of online battlers took everything really serious with the physical/special and EV/IV and other small stuff like bred moves. I can only imagine how much worse it has gotten in all the gens I've missed.

HG/SS is the same shit as DPP. I recently tried to replay it and literally closed my DS because it was so fucking slow.

BW isn´t even gen4 and has a much more faster battle(mechanic? whatever the name is you now what I mean).

Sun moon maybe is a little bit slow of the encountering, but that is probably mostly 3DS fault, but ingame battling is still fast. If you want it faster without having a n3ds, go into options and shut battle animations off.

SM was decent enough, very different from past games in that it was heavily story focused but it was ok with me because I wanted to see even a slight change in the flow of the singleplayer, which has largely been the same type of barebones story with 8 gyms for many years.
