You will like most SMT games if you like it, latter games are generally an improvement most of the time. Only Persona 3-5, DDS and Raidou can be a bit different

As for JRPGs, the usual franchises are always good: Dragon Quest, Xeno, Tales, FF, etc.

Then I'll try Persona I guess, I heard only P1 is a bit outdated, and then Xenogears which always intrigued me.

P1 is kind of crummy on the battle system but the dungeons are legit. P2 is crummy in battle AND dungeons but the story is super legit. P3 doesn't have dungeons but the battles are ok and the story is regular legit. P4 has better battles but crummier story and terrible dungeons but I guess at least it has them. For some stupid reason there are no enemy demons in P3-4 and instead they're replaced with generic monsters. P5 is good all around but its popular so /v/ won't talk about it without being super critical.

SMT is generally better but I think all the Persona are with playing, at worst they're still pretty good games.

Te rest of SMT is good too, but on a side note, does anyone know what determines turn order in SMT1? I'm playing it now and can't figure out what decides the order.

Dude what, they are genuinely good games. P3 and P4 is kind of weird with generic enemies and procedural generated dungeons and especially P3's battle system, but P5's good all around. Their only real problem is hand-holding, pacing and under-developed characters during the main story due to Slinks and the calendar system
