I loved Gravity Rush, but wow was Gravity Rush 2 a disappointment. It was kinda like going from Banjo Kazooie to Banjo Tooie. Everything was bigger and there was more stuff, but in the process, what made the original game fun was lost. Except for Kat still being a great character.

GR2 was kinda poor anyway. Sure the atmosphere's there, and style switching offers good variety to combat, albeit a bit clunky since they use retarded touchpad for it, but they spread out gameplay so thin that most of it becomes pointless. Hundreds long side-missions offer barely anything more than upgrades to your numbers and a few jokes, treasure hunts just drop stupid generated equipment that again just adds to your numbers, upgrades are largely pointless compared to the first game, where each made a significant difference, making challenges not really worth the hassle as well. I missed the tight design of the first game, playing GR2.

I have been marathoning the series and got done with GR1. I gotta say that I loved all the surrealism of it. I think they did a great job building the intrigue behind the world. Like how time works differently with how high or low you are at the world pillar. Or the organic skeletal structure inside the pillar it self etc. What was the mystery behind Kat's past. What happened to the lost children. Etc etc.

And then I got to GR2. As much as I enjoy the idea of seeing a south East Asian country in the sky, I have not seen them talk about any of the past events in the previous game. They are never gonna explain shit now are they?

I don't know if I've ever loved a vidya's art style and general aesthetic more than GR'ss. It hits every one of my buttons. The world was charming and neat, and the music was nice, and I ended up loving most of the characters.

At this point, if a PS Allstars 2 or whatever is announced with Kat as a started, it's an instant buy for me.

I don't want a spinoff, I want Kat. Maybe a Raven spinoff could be cool but after the free DLC I'm not holding my breath. Regardless, gravity shenanigans in an open world is a good part of the charm of this series so I wouldn't want to deviate too far from that either.
