I love Gothic 2 but I can't be helped to play it for more than an hour at a time. The world feels alive but it's so generic. The one reason I like Morrowind more.

Haven't touched Gothic in over two years after I autistically played Gothic 1 & 2 back-to-back and beat both games 3 times over the course of my summer vacation.

I prefer the Gothic 1 over Gothic 2, it just felt more comfy for me, like yeah the world is smaller but at same time the characters seem to have more expressive than the ones from G2.

So I have replay both games recently and felt that merc path felt way more natural than others, like g1 if you take the sect and guards/fire mage or g2 paladins and fire mages the protagonist seem to give extra sarcasm and snores whenever following the missions but with merc everybody is acting like a bro.

OP got one thing right - that game is truly the greatest RPG of all times.

Took me a lot, although each consecutive play in Gothic 2 took longer and longer since you learned more tricks but you spent more time gaming the system as well. Average playthrough of Gothic 2 is between 70-80 hours and for Gothic it's like 50. Anyway I whipped Gothic's ass so hard with my last chars that I have no desire to ever revisit these games. Nothing will top off my last characters.

I think it's because the whole prison thing is way less common than fantasy landscape, albeit grounded one, we saw in Gothic 2. That may be large part of why I find Dungeon Rats appealing even though it has nothing do with Gothic whatsoever.

I busted through 1 a few weeks ago; it wasn't too bad. Ugly as hell though, and while it may've been appropriate G2 is just super cozy to look at and playthrough.

I'm about 20 hours into it and need a break, though. Had no idea the expansion pack made it slower and harder; it's kind of what I wanted but still, damn.
