Both Pro and Scorpio are better than the basic console and both have a "4K" icon on the box and game trailers - people don't care if it says "Dynamic 4K" or just "4K", for some the word "dynamic" even sounds cooler.

Scorpio's advantages are minimal to the market its targeting and the price is what'll make the most difference in choice. We already know PS4pro will always be cheaper than Scorpio so the "battle" is over.

Also Scorpio will sell so little that Sony isn't worried. In fact even MS knows it won't sell a lot. Both companies know that the base systems will always be the flagships, the ones that sell and matter the most for the rest of the generation. Scorpio and Pro are there for PR purposes and little else, neither company cares which version you get as long as you buy ANY of their consoles and use their platform to play games on it and buy PS+/XBGold. On that aspect PS4 is on the lead and won't ever lose it.

Absolutely no pressure for Sony to release PS5 until at least 2020, but probably 2011 or 2022.

If the exta $100-150 doesn't bother you too much the PS4pro is the clear way to go .

-It gets faster loading times on all games regardless of patch.

-It gets "boost mode" for unpatched games, which more often that not further improves load times and stabilizes framerates (say if Bloodborn ran at 28fps during intense combat on PS4, it'll run at 30fps during that same battle on the Pro, even though it has no patch)

-Patched games (which include all games released on PS4 after October 2016, plus a couple dozen older ones) run better on the Pro, have better image quality, or simply give you more graphical choices.

To be more specific about clear advantages, as a general rule of thumb most Pro games run at 1440p or 1800p natively and are then upscaled to 4K (2160p), while most PS4 games run at 900p or 1080p. So if you want to guarantee that no game runs below 1080p get the Pro.
For framerates Pro doesn't double them from 30fps to 60fps (aside from rare exceptions) but it often runs games at 10-15 higher fps. For example Nier:Automata targets 60fps on PS4, but the game goes down to ~45fps very often, while on the Pro it drops to 55fps instead (so 10 more) and stays at 60fps more consistently.

The Playstation OS on Pro is native 4K, while on PS4 it's 1080p, so the UI will look sharper on your screen if that's a thing that matters to you.

At last year's E3, Microsoft said that all XBOX One games will be supported across all XBOX Ones (the launch model, the S, and the Scorpio), but how long do you think they're gonna keep that up? A few years from now, inevitably gonna be a point where 3rd party devs say "the launch hardware is just too old, we want our game to only come out on the Scorpio". When enough people have bought Scorpios, Microsoft can cut off the launch XBOX One's support without that many people getting mad. checkerboarding is only one of many techniques, it's unrelated to the 1800p resolution. For example I think that Horizon uses 2 x 1080p images to checkerboard to 4K.

Some games simply render at actual 1800p and upscale it to 4K. Titanfall2 uses native 1440p as a base and then uses dynamic resolution to maintain 60fps.

I'm not too familiar with all the upscaling technologies, I just know that many are used for PS4pro. Checkerboarding is one of the most hard and time-consuming for devs so I don't think it's all that common, you mostly see it (well done) in Sony 1st party titles. Wipeout Omega uses it when motion blur is active, but if you disable it the game renders at actual native 4K.

A resolution bump in and of itself drastically improves the quality of the image, even if the textures are the exact same.
Google comparisons of DarkSouls1 PC port with and without the DSfix mod (pic related) the textures are the exact same between 720p and 2160p but they look waaay crisper and more detailed in the 1080p render.
As far as I'm aware the PS4pro can't handle actual 4K textures due to RAM limitations (for the most part. games that aren't all that demanding might use 4K textures, but not AAA games) but the higher resolution alone improves them.

It's not a meme. I bought a 3K resolution laptop 2 years ago (for productivity purposes I needed it to be portable) and while I thought 1080p monitors were perfectly fine and had zero issues back then, nowadays I absolutely can't stand 1080p monitors even for browsing or watching youtube. I notice every single pixel while on the 3K monitor everything's smooth and sharp.

4K on games is like very good AA (you see no jaggies) but without the added blurriness that comes with AA. Of course I'm talking about under 30" monitors here, not huge 4K TVs where the pixel density is worse and you might notice jaggies if you're very close to it.

That being said, I'm still perfectly fine with playing games at 1080p though. For everthing else like illustrating, editing & non-vidya procrastinatin' I need muh 3K rez though.
