SSE was a bunch of shitty cutscenes of Nintendo characters staring dramatically at each other and then nodding. The people who defend SSE played Brawl first and only remember the cutscene with Kirby on the Dragoon.
The gameplay was rancid. Its honestly one of the worst things I've ever had the displeasure of sitting through. It doesn't even feel like Smash with the awful way enemies respond to your hits

Meanwhile the Smash 4 trailers are filled with personality and did an amazing job of getting everybody riled up and all aboard the hype train. Character trailers from 4 were way more exciting than any scene of Subspace or any reveal on the Brawl website.

Less is more. SSE was bloat. Smash 4 trailers were resources used effectively and it was better for it.

Developers think about that kind of stuff, the presentation of their material.
It was a perfectly reasonable decision to decide that he was unhappy with how hype train derailed at the end of Brawl and change over to trailers were he could have way more control over how it played out. And it worked amazingly.
Switching to character trailers was an incredible smart move by Sakurai.

Adventure and Classic are irrelevant in a post Crazy Orders world.

I wanted a moveset that used a variety of the weapons available in Uprising, not just the same shit Pit has but with different properties. Palutena scratched that itch a bit for the powers of Uprising, I wanted Dark Pit to do something with the weapons, except it actually being a complete moveset instead of custom specials.
