Symmetra gets raped by any serious comp. Dive comps shit all over her because Winston can tickle her turrets away, and tank-heavy comps have too much health and healing for her to be useful. She's a one-trick pony only useful for first-point defense on a handful of maps. She only shits on uncoordinated quick play pubs.

They can easily engage Symmetra outside of Symmetra's beam range, pop out and shoot turrets (damage falloff doesn't matter because they have 1 HP) and search-and-destroy her shield generator/teleporter. Symmetra is useless against them, unless she's part of a condensed turtling comp and there's only a handful of places where that's even possible let alone viable.

So you're saying her turrets will be spaced out so you can't bypass them, but also clumped together around the ultimate so you can't destroy it, and also she's over by the ultimate not letting you destroy it but also by her team at the same time. Which is it?

If Symmetra has everything clumped together then it's not affecting your team. If everything is spaced apart then it's easily dealt with by a flanker. And Symmetra herself has zero mobility so it's impossible for her to get from place to place anywhere near as easily as a flanker. Symmetra is protecting her ult in the back? Cool, the flanker gets away and then fucks around with her team. Symmetra is by her team helping them? Cool, the flanker bypasses them and fucks around with her backline. She can't be in two places at once.

Given equal skill, a flanker counters Symmetra, period.
