When are game publishers going to realize that gamers want more realism in games? Why do you think graphics have been getting better? Just so we can have the same unrealistic scores of bullet sponge enemies and RC cars? In the old days the over-the-top gameplay made up for the low quality graphics, but these days we expect more.
I'm willing to make an exception for things like Mario, but when it comes to military shooters and the like we want something more challenging and *gasp* realistic.
Fallout 4's "Survival Mode" is on the right track, but I want realistic sniping and to have to maintain my characters needs (food, sleep, bladder, etc.) Why not?
Is that really so much to ask for?

It's because it's not sold at all. If it were presented like "indie" movies were, eventually it'd be come the rage. Companies think they're selling to retards and kids, and usually that's true, but there's definitely a way to please everyone, more or less. Especially if these things were optional.

Also gameplay like Fallout's SM made the gun battles a lot more dangerous and fun to play since there were actual stakes and I couldn't just save every two seconds. Made it feel slightly more like a real battle. Not dead-on realism, but better.
