How many times have you replayed the game to analyze its flaws? Gaiden was never a popular game and Echoes didn't do nearly as much as it could have. The director for this game squandered the chance for Gaiden to redeem itself. For fucks sake you can't even see the order your units are in inside of dungeons. That should've been an obvious improvement. The game is easy and oftentimes more about stats than strategy. Thabes Labyrinth is terrible with this especially.

It's a remake of a game everybody in the fandom knew was shit. The other guy was right. A remake that doesn't fix the problems of the original game will still be mediocre. It doesn't help that there is barely anything to discuss due to it having focus on story rather than gameplay (that story being largely generic) and the gameplay is crap. The majority of people who like this game is simply because it's not "muh Awakening/Fates" and also ignoring that its inferior to the games that came before it.

Only one reason.

They didn't market it.

Echoes was announced in March's direct and was released a month later for Japan, and the month after that for everyone else.

In contrast, Awakening got a marketing campaign as large as they've ever spent marketing all the games in the series. And they built up the hype for Fates, even though it was a disappointment.

Here, they just crapped out Echoes and left it to die. Which is sad because it's an incredible game and is by far the best FE installment on the 3DS.

From what I saw in the direct, it looked like a story heavy FE with a dungeon gimmick. And I had no faith in their writing after the clusterfuck that was Fates, so I had no interest in it.

I figured I'd get it if I heard it was good, but I didn't even know it was out so I guess that answers that question
