The funny thing about that is Junk and Roadhog are the closest to TF2 characters Overwatch has. The short comic they had reveals that they want to do legitimate merc work but end up lining the pockets of an already rich man while also almost getting killed in the process to which at the end of the comic they kill the man that hired them for screwing them much like our favorite Gun trotting team.

Overwatch puts all these different lore tidbits into their maps when it's completely unnecessary and most players won't even see them. They just had a limited time event that played like a single level from a co-op campaign complete with scripted cinematic events.

It's pretty obvious they want to make a story that's about more than just black comedy, and a lot of people seem to like that. It's not perfectly written, but I can turn my brain off and enjoy it well enough.

The OW videos completely show why I don't understand this game or it's characters. These are supposed to be heroes yet I never really ever felt like they were heroic. Neither game come off as inherently try-hard in their attempts to establish personality.

TF2's team decided to take more risks with their game's personalities because they knew their crowd.

That's OW's problem though. They know their crowd. It's Blizzard fans that are the core base and people who initially hyped the game, and that's a huge and diverse fan base.

Not saying Valve didn't have a diverse fan base at the launch of TF2 but it was a different time socially.

Ironically, yes. The game gets really stale really quickly. Id rather have 3 weapoms that are all interchangeable and each serve a distinct purpose relative to your character choice. Overwatch feels really samey after just a few games and is a struggle to play after about a month or two
