Gothic might not have been the best word, how about most of them use extremely similar settings? Like how when viewing RPG maker games you can play "who used the same texture packs". A map from Grim Dawn, PoE, Torchlight 2, VV, and Dungeon Siege could all be interchanged pretty easily without raising any eyebrows.

TQ makes use of the greek setting which was part of what made it so fun.

Book of Demons is basically a casualised version of Diablo1 in a papercraft style. It's early access, but the demo was surprisingly enjoyable.

I feel you dude even though that's all subjective. And TQ didn't just have Greece but Egypt and that asian looking act aswell. It was all bright and comfy compared to games like Diablo and Grim Dawn. Looking back now I think that's why act 2 was my favorite in D2, because it was the least depressing looking.
