It depends on what you consider good.

Some common complaints about it are the very high encounter rate (which even persists in towns), slow and methodical combat (despite seeming like an 'action game') and unclear objectives at times.

The second game does away with the first two complaints, but has worse writing on the whole and a worse story.

I'm personally not bothered by any of the things people complain about.

Could have done with lower encounter rate in towns though, even if they were still there.
