I played P4 PS2 and I was sorta forced by my friends to try out Golden, I didn't think there was enough to justify a replay. Boy was I wrong.

I really tried to have an open mind about Marie but my dude, she's the low hanging fruit of the game. In Persona 3 it was the library chick, in Persona 4 it's now Marie, and in Persona 5 it's Makoto.

Never ever go for the low hanging fruit.

Quality of life improvements and a few scenes here and there. If I were to put a percentage, I would say it added 35% into the game vs the vanilla Persona 4. It's worth playing, it still had new features over Persona 3 like fast traveling and being able to pick and choose skills in fusion.

It's bandwagoners that are making P4 look so cancerous to people outside of the Persona community. Marie and other characters may have quirks that aren't so great, but if you go into the game after accepting all the negativity it'll influence your run. I've introduced a few of my friends to the series starting with P4G and they had no real issues with Marie. They didn't equate it to be any more annoying than Yukiko's random laughing fits, but of course Yukikofags will defend that to their last breaths while attacking Marie for something very similar. It's just a mix of bias and banwagoners who can't form their own opinions properly. The funny thing is, outside of Reddit and 4chan Marie isn't hated, so there's obviously a community pull going on.

She's fine, the only bad girls are rise (a fucking slut) and naoto (no personality autist).

This. You wouldn't believe the kind of dumb reasons people have come up with the justify their hate for her. Some people say dumb BS like her outfit looks like it came from hot topic and doesn't fit P5, as if her outfit is bad. It's literally P5 style and if she was introduced in P5 I doubt anyone would have an issue with her. Another excuse is that she's either forced on them or made the canon love interest, which is both completely wrong. She's an optional S.link and completely optional to the story. She's also no more canon than any of the other girls, she only had a P4G anime focus because that whole bonus anime was based around the additions that P4G brought to the table, and that itself isn't canon to the games. In fact, she's actually loved by the Japanese fanbase. It's just communities like 4chan that go overboard with autism, or places like reddit that overthink themselves that will always have some bandwagon-esque issue.
