Gaming peripheral thread

My Logitech G400s is starting to fail on the left click. Is this chart still accurate? What would you recommend?
>>
Half the mice in the top tiers aren't even sold anymore. 2/10 low effort. See me after class.
>>
>>379434086
My G500 finally kicked the bucket after 5 years of abuse. Excellent mouse. Just upgraded to the G502, And I gotta say its pretty damn good.
>>
>>379434086
that cyborg mouse, why does it need fucking measurements on it. Just fucking put that thing out of its misery. i would be lying though if i said i wasn't the least bit curious about trying that aborted fetus.

G403 looks to be the successor in terms of appearance and good sensors.

I think it's smaller and a little lighter than the G400 though

every time theres a mouse tier thread its filled with autistic logitech fanboys thinking their 100+ gram ancient mouse is """god tier""" or even decent nowdays.

the only top mice in the current year is the g403, deathadder and the finalmouse scream one.
zowie is outdated trash that refuses to fix the shitty buttons and upgrade the sensor.
anything other than the 403 and pro from logitech is either cringe gaymen shit like the g900/502 or outdated shit sensors like the mx518/g400/g500.

got a big hand? get the deathadder.
got a medium to big hand? get the g403 or finalmouse.

Not him, but my first thoughts is that it's a mouse with a great sensor that was marketed for a 12 year old.
But seeing this seems to change my opinion.

Do you guys recommend it though?
>>
The Sensei has been a great mouse. I've had it for...must be at least 5 years? Maybe longer. I bought it for the screen gimmick but holy shit is this mouse sturdy. Still clicks like its brand new, scrolls great, even the pads are somehow still not worn down. Which is amazing to me because I had a logitech where the pads actually worn down to the mouse frame.

Its ambidextrous which makes it overall less comfortable than it could be, though.
>>
>tfw chinese branless mouse with 8 buttons

I paid the piece of shit 15 bucks. Yet it's absolutely fantastic, I've been using it for about 2 years now and it's not showing any sign of weakness just yet.

Why would you spend so much on a gaming mouse?
>>
>>379437675
i've had one for like 3 years now and it still works flawlessly, it's the best mouse i've ever owned

it looks like a le epin gamer mouse, but it's comfy and all the buttons are in great positions, and can be used driverless

I have a CM Storm Xornet that is starting to age and it's literally the only mouse i'm confortable with because of fingertip grip and small fingers

>>379434840
Don't bother with any of this unknown Chinese garbage.
You need to look at what sensor a mouse actually has, not what DPI, since any god awful laser sensor can go up to 10k+ range nowadays.

http://www.overclock.net/t/854100/gaming-mouse-sensor-list

Something with a PWM-3310/3360 is good.
G502, G403, G303 from Logitech all use the PWM-3366 for example, which is Logitech's own version of the 3360.
The new budget G203 from them as well is basically just the G Pro, but with a cheaper sensor called Mercury that according to everyone that's used it feels just as good as the 3366. (Since the 3360/3366 is just such overkill anyway.)

If you want a good mouse you'll be looking at 35£ upwards.
Nixeus Rivel is a budget mouse a lot of people like, very comfortable shape based on the SS Sensei, only issue is the buttons feel a bit mushy according to quite a few people.
You can get that for £36 on Amazon last I checked.
The G203 is £35, the G403 is on sale there atm for £47.
Some of the more expensive Zowie mouse are good I hear but I feel like they're too expensive for what they are personally.

I think the most important thing anyone needs to do before buying a mouse is look at the shape and what grip style it fits.
Since everyone uses some variation of one of the three, claw/palm/fingertip.
Get one that is suited for your grip since there's no point in getting a mouse with a good sensor if your hand cramps whenever you use it.
>>
>>379438650
The 'best sensors' are actually usually in low priced mice.
Like the G400 or MS WMO1.1

High cost gamer mice are more likely to have prediction.

Guy who uses a headset here.

The only reason to use a headset is if you have limited space, not enough money to get a nicer mic and headphones, or you play games on a TV like me.

If you have money and space, do like the other anon said and get a proper mic and headphones.

Personally I have a Steel Series Siberia 350 and it gets the job done. The audio is nothing special and the mic is way too sensitive, but as I said I play in front of a TV so it's a requirement.

>>
>>379437306
Calm down there you fucking spastic.
Your list is only half right. The Scream One is incredibly similar to both the DM1 Pro S and the Revel, except it's just more expensive.
Logitech also have a lot more than just the G403 with their good 3366 sensor.
G Pro, G502, G303 all use the same sensor and good buttons as well.
The only issue with the G502 is really the weight since at it's lightest it's still 100g+, who cares what the fuck the thing looks like though, as long as it's comfortable.

Got a big hand? Then you also have the option of getting a Ventus X Optical which has a 3360 sensor, just as good as the Deathadder's.
For a medium hand you have the option for a lot of different mice. G403, G303, G102/203, Revel, DM1 Pro S, Finalmeme mouse.
All have the top of the line 3360/3366 sensor.

You're not nearly as tech literate as you make yourself out to be anon. Maybe work on that before you give half baked answers guised as knowledge from some tech god who knows better than all.

I use one of these guys, meming aside I fucking love it. For some reason I found it super difficult to use the actual number keys, either because I'm so double jointed my fingers will pop into a crooked position sometimes if I outstretch too quick. But 12 thumb buttons for whatever the fuck I need are nice.

The wheel tilt is fucking stupid though. Gets in the way of clicking middle mouse in the heat of the moment.
>>
>>379440418
To clarify the mouse list a bit since I forgot, the G102/203 doesn't use the 3366, but uses the new Mercury sensor, which is just as good as the 3366 according to everyone that's used it.
Basically the G Pro for half the price.

Why would someone buy this many different mice just to put them into a tier list like this? Like, wouldn't you find one you enjoy and stop there? It seems more like someone wants to justify their purchase so they claim it to be better than all others just so they can feel good about themselves, while randomly assigning different ones to arbitrary tiers.

i'm using a Zowie FK. I like it's shape alot but I like to play with a very high mouse sensitivity, however i'd like it if I could bind to a key a toggle that significantly lowers the mouses sensitivity (for in fps games like overwatch when i'm trying to line up a shot on a far away target) The Zowie doesn't have any kind of software that lets me do this and i've heard some other mice do so i'm thinking of buying a new mouse.

Anyone have a good recommendation for a mouse that can do what I want?

Second dude had it replaced under warranty and it started doing the same thing again.

>Fuck you on about, do you have any amount of muscle on your arms?
I was talking specifically about fps games. Everyone who isn't a total shitter knows a lighter mouse is always better, around 90 grams is good, anything over 120 grams is pure garbage. There is a reason why pro players don't use this particular mouse.
>Who cares, it's incredibly ergonomic which is what counts
You can make a mouse that is ergonomic and also doesn't look like a transformer, Logitech has other mouses that can do both
>It's actually a great location for another thumb button
LOL
>There's a reason so many people claim it's the best mouse they're ever had
They obviously haven't owned many mouses. You also need to stop falling for the shilling.

Very nice attempt at trying to justify a bad purchase
>>
>>379434840
You have plenty of these chinese mouses, with different brands. And they all work really well.

I bought one out of curiosity, and it works flawlessly. Even better than those other popular brands. It's really well made, and it even has some interchangeable weights.

I've played a lot of games in the last three years, where you have to click A LOT--like Dota 2 and League--and the mouse has zero problems... Meanwhile my friends are complaining that their Razer Blackadder got some double-click problems after less than two months.

Anyways, I just wanted to tell you to stop listening to all those sheep and fanboys saying "itss chineese pieze of craap hurr", because it actually works as good--if not better--than those big brands, which are actually ALSO made in China.

The reason the big brands like Logitech, Steelseries, or Razer are popular, is because of marketing. Plain and simple.

Shape is far more important anyway for shooters, especially when the difference between a 3310 and a 3360 isn't enough to make any appreciable difference in your actual aim. People should try and get a mouse that's comfortable to them rather than just getting one that has a better sensor. That's why tier lists like >>379435932 are pretty meaningless.
>>
>>379440509
>but I've been able to switch dpi during sniping
Switching your DPI like that is a meme. It's just makes your aim overall worse because you're not able to build muscle memory. A good shooter should also already reduce your sensitivity when zoomed so that your muscle memory remains the same.

It's served me well for the couple years I've had it with the exception of a double click problem i had which required me to open the thing up and wipe it down to remove all the gunk that got built up in there. No, it looks like a transformer and I find it cute. Certainly more interesting than a usual boring mouse.
>It matters to people who play fps games who aren't shitters
It matters to autists like you. Your average person who buys a G502 wants a good comfy mouse with extra buttons and doesn't care about the 0.05ms loss of reaction time caused by an extra 20 grams when he's doing CSGO competitions.
>Its obvious why no other mouse has it, its just that you don't know why and it continues to make you look like an idiot
It's far more convenient as an easy access button than mouse 4 and 5 so it's a perfect button for things like opening the inventory or weapon wheel. Your thumb is literally going to be on it already as it sits on the thumb rest, it's the most accessible button on the mouse other than mouse 1 and 2.
>Can't I have a friendly argument with my fellow anons about a bad purchase they made?

>Does not compute, anon
I don't understand what you don't get. The random number you reduce it to almost certainly doesn't lower it to the exact point you need for it to actually be the same speed across your monitor, especially if the game already does that. I'm obviously not saying that lowering sensitivity at all is a meme, I'm saying that arbitrarily lowering your DPI isn't effective for utilizing or improving muscle memory, especially when you're fucking with the game's built-in system for that.

Because if the devs are competent then they usually try to keep the sensitivity consistent so your aim is the same across all zoom distances. You yourself gave an example with BF. Even if the game doesn't do it perfectly then it's usually within a decent range of it. The number isn't arbitrary with competent devs whereas it almost certainly is with you just switching the DPI down especially when you consider that the game already has a system in place for it.

My G400s is giving up and im not paying the retarded prices for one on ebay.
I take it this is the equivalent version these days?
Im going to try repair the 400 but i need to have a backup in case i fuck up hard
>>
>>379484719
It literally doesn't matter unless you're using an older mouse that gets jitter or acceleration at really high (like 2000+) DPI. 800 is perfectly fine but I wouldn't recommend going much higher than that solely because it makes it harder to keep your sens low if a game has a shitty slider. For reference, most pro FPS players use 400-800. Ultimately, it's just about what you're comfortable with on your desktop.
>>
>>379485002
Equivalent these days would probably be a 403.
>>
My g400s is dying on me. Which mouse is the most similar to the classic mx518/g400/400s shape? Im currently eyeing the g403 but im not sure.

The thing I don't like about my Zowie FK-2 is the surface of the mouse.

Also who the fuck cares about "CS pros", look at Quake players. The aim and mouse settings there (true and actually working mouse accel included) are the best.

Ordered the G203 version a couple of days ago myself, should be here sometime next week.
Can't wait.
Definitely one of the better bang for the buck mice, even more so if you're willing to wait a bit longer and get one of the G102's on ebay from China/Korea for even cheaper.
20$ for what is essentially a G Pro is pretty lit.

Most Q-pros play with accel because it helps with 180 moves.

http://demos.igmdb org/QuakeCon%202016/QuakeLive/PlayerConfigsAndDemos/

Quake accel is far superior to pretty much every other game.

The R.A.T. is the comfiest mouse ever.
I had one for like 4 years until my kitten chewed the wire.
Everything else feels awkward now.
It's design is stupid and needless but the weight and shape is perfect.
>>
>>379486662
Looks like I'll have to give accel a try. The difficult thing about it is that the speed at which you flick your mouse also has to be accurate, as opposed to just controlling the distance your mouse moves. I guess that's why their called pros.

>Implying it matters
It's a lot easier to look up a fuck-ton of CS player's shit and get a good guideline for how you should setup your own shit than it is to look up a few Quake player's especially when it's probably out of date anyway and no game other than Quake actually uses mouse accel like Quake does. It's not like there's some secret setting that Quake players know about or are forced to use that CS players don't that'll actually make any difference in your gameplay. The only notable difference between the two is a preference for low sens vs high sens to accommodate hitscan vs projectile based shooting, but even then, some CS players use higher sensitivities than some Quake players and vice versa.

Pro player settings shouldn't be used as anything more than guidelines or examples and there's no real secret to be found that'll improve your aim other than lowering your sens from 3cm/360 to something manageable
>>
>>379486514
not really a good thing to base mice on who uses them. these are quake players, they don't want to learn how to use a new mouse, they have been using the one they have now for 10+ years and would rather get better at what is familiar

has anybody gotten one of those "sniper button" mouses? I bought one thinking it was just an extra button that would be easy to hit, then realized it's literally M1 with lower dpi to use while you snipe, it's so fucking stupid. I regret buying this thing because it's insanely uncomfortable.

wew that's the most pathetic case of autofelllatio I have seen in years on here.
You choose the 502 if you
>prefer the looks
>prefer the weight, like playing on high sens
>need the dpi on the fly switches
>like having another thumb mouse button readily available
>like the form
>want a rgb LED for some reason
If you only play CSGO then there's probably better options, sure.

So pretty much if you have shit taste, like to hinder your mouse movement even if you don't notice it, play on high sens because you're a shitter, like the functionality that other better mouses have, then get the 502.

Finally something I can agree on.

Anons, my Razer Imperator (yeah-yeah, I know, overpriced. But I got it for 50% off and it lasted for 5 years with 0 problems) finally kicked the bucket. Doubleclicking on the left button.

I'm kind of strapped for cash now. Do you have any suggestions for sub 20$ mice, that will last for more than a year?
>>
>>379490796
I just said you were correct and I did not know people actually liked how it looks and think a heavier mouse is better. I thought people saw shit looks and heaviness as compromises for functionality and a good sensor. At the end of the day I did not want the right person to make the wrong choice and buy this mouse.

Also no need to run away, we're all friends here ;)
>>
>>379490620
depends what game. those like quake duels you can use a 2 button mouse but even clan arena i would recommend at least 5 button because then you can bind chatbinds like "low" and "lowish" just to make it easier. in team fortress 2 comp i cannot play without forward and back buttons because i cannot find a comfortable way to activate voice chat any other way which is very important there. you could easily bind this to keys but i use all the keys near my hand up for weapons (shift = weapon 1, q wep 2, e wep 3) and binds (no i don't have shit like lenny face just callouts like spy, medic, deploy dispenser here, etc). might work well with capslock just because i wouldnt have to hold it down once depressed, ill probably try it sometime
