We're halfway through the year, so it might be a good idea to ponder what your personal game of the year is. And do explain why if possible.
All opinions and games are welcome here. Please keep console warring to a minimum.
My pick, so far

Haven't heard of that one. How good is it?
Gravity Rush 2.
It has wonderful atmosphere, music and characters, one of the best fantasy worlds I've explored. The gameplay is a good evolution of the first title and remains fun.
In second place is Kero Kero Blaster by the Cave Story developer. I think it was made a while ago but only ported to PS4 this year.

FINAL FANTASY XV

Kat's game was wonderful!

Pretty good
Nier automata was pretty great.
Prey. It gave me a rush of nostalgia for System Shock 2 without leaning hard on "remember this thing you loved? XD" bullshit that frequently troubles spiritual successors.
Nioh. Im so fucking glad that finally, FINALLY, after nearly a decade after Ninja Gaiden 2 and Devil May Cry 4, someone made another hack and slash of that level of quality again. I never thought I'd see a game be so fun again.
RANDOM ANON'S LIST IN ORDER
Nier
Botw
Prey
Persona 5
Pretty good year tho
In terms of how creative and innovative I think it is: Breath of the Wild
In terms of how much I enjoyed it: Persona 5
In terms of how """""objectively"""" good I think it is: Puyo Puyo Tetris

Nier was amazing. I still haven't played Persona 5 though
BOTW
Spirit of Sanada or Prey

This year has been a lot harder to decide personal GOTY than any others in recent memory. I really liked BotW's sense of freedom and discovery, Hollow Knights atmosphere and art style, Nier's story and soundtrack, and Prey for surpassing Bioshock as the best System Shock-esque game (besides SS2 of course).

Prey so far. Darkest Dungeon expansion is right around the corner but that's not a new game so whatever, still going to be amazing.
Nier Automata is the only good game I've played all year and there are 0 games I'm looking forward to in the second half of the year, so I guess it wins by default.

Sadly, I'm with this anon on this, RS2 was sort of disappointing and the rest of the games were either locked behind the cost of a whole console or just uninteresting.
Persona 5 and Nier Automata are both tied for me right now
