in terms of pure gameplay it's not as good as the first but it's still a decent game

I liked it more than the first game.

It's more puzzly/methodical than its' run and gun predecessor. I'm cool with that. Beat it on hard mode.

Music is generally better. HLM1 only had a few songs I really liked, but the whole OST of 2 is incredible.

I liked the story and characters, but that's pretty subjective.

It's not as if the first Hotline Miami really had characters. Jacket is pretty blank. And most of the cast does appear in HM2
