It depends on what you are looking for. Next Order has alot of quirks and I probably wouldn't enjoy it as much if I wouldn't have a massive nostalgia boner for DW. Cyber Sleuth is more like a traditional JRPG with less tedious stuff in it. I'd definetly try cyber sleuths first, especially since it's older and therefore cheaper than next order.

I don't know how poorly those games sell but I'd think it's very niche so they never bothered with a port. It basically took a bunch of petitioning for it to happen. They then released that really terrible arena one (All Star Rumble) that looked like it was a half-assed attempt at making a game to test the waters, and then they localized Cyber Sleuth on both Vita (Digitally) and PS4 (Both digital and physical) with a decent ad campaign where they also added a bunch of new stuff for the western release (Got added later for JP). It ended up selling incredibly well (I think it was far more than they actually expected?) so Next Order was a no brainer for them, and hopefully the next Story gets localized.

There is DNA evolution though and they could've expanded on it a bit so that you'd maybe do a DNA evolution, have only one and then when it dies you get two new ones or something. Next Order has some issues, like the running speed being too low and not as much variety in scenery as the original DW1 but it might many quality of life improvements. I haven't played re:digitize but next order feels like a digimon world sequel, maybe when you can get it cheap you can check it out. It was 30 bucks on amazon a while ago.

My problems with Re:Digitize were just the amount of grinding comparative to the actual amount of time you get to run around, how every map you go through is like an hour or more in Digi-time but your guy only lives like eight days, and how it just didn't feel like the original World did in terms of freedom vs. gym time. Personally I just don't want to bother with dealing with two Digimon and if I have to spend hours savescumming to get to run around for like an hour or two with my Digimon I probably won't bother.

Does Next Order allow you to have a decent amount of training before you can run around or do you basically need to min-max all the time if you want to do anything? Re:Digitize is just constant savescumming stats and farming for bits to buy more recovery disks so you can explore past the first couple areas.

I've been playing Cyber Sleuth and I got addicted to platsukamon grinding in order to explore all the digivolution trees. Is this game as barebones with its environments as Cyber Sleuth or is it a different style of game?

They added a level system to your actual tamer where you can increase your digimons life and other stuff like training benefits. Basically after a few levels your digimon will life for 21 days if they are megas. I think evolutions are time gated so after 11 or 12 days you'll get to mega level which leaves you with 10 days or so with exploring if you want to go out with really strong digimon. It's not really hard to get the required stats to beat the game and you can probably reach them in about 4-5 generations, post game is a bit harder but maxing out digimons stats is also relatively easy once you get the hang of using food that increases training benefits etc.

It's a digimon world game, you basically explore a giant digimon world with deserts, snow areas and other stuff in it. It's a completely different style of game though, it focuses more on raising your digimon instead of progressing a story. Basically how far you can explore the world depends on how well you trained your digimon beforehand.

World games are completely different styles compared to Story games. Story games are turn-based RPGs, World games are Tomagotchi games where you raise a Digimon in order to explore, befriend Digimon to expand your city, and eventually follow the story far enough to fight an ultimate big bad. You also don't keep Digimon forever compared to Story games (Well, I mean relatively, you DeDigivolve in the Story games but in World they just die and pass on a bit of their experience) so getting every Digivolution is hundreds of hours even with a proper guide.

In Re:Digitize you have the same kind of level deal but all it does is increase the amount of stats you can pass on to the next Digimon (Unless I'm remembering it wrong, I don't remember it extending life). When I would grind my characters to around 400-500 in their stats and around 6000ish in HP and MP they would only have maybe two~ish days of life left before I had to do it all over again so it just made me lose my mind after about 30 hours. It's also very easy to extend your digimons life with food, but that's more of a postgame thing since it requires you to pay relatively high prices for food which is only affordable when you can beat the post game bosses. There were some free DLC missions that had enemies with ridiculous stats so you actually needed like 70k+ hp and at least 9000+ strength and shit like that to beat them.
