Why are you making these hype threads about Gog as if they're like Steam. They both have different users with different tastes. And Goh sales are more chill, less hyped than Steam so there's no need for the capitalized letters. That being said I'm going to wait longer until SWAT 4 gets a better discount.

There aren't that many. In fact I can't think of any.

The closest you can get is with some sim games (not Sim games, I mean city sims, transport sims, flight sims, military sims etc...).

"Engineering" titles like Factorio (especially with mods), Kerbal Space Program etc... can also eat up hundreds upon hundreds of hours.

Finally, you might want to try something with highly emergent gameplay and fairly lively multiplayer. Ever played Mount and Blade?

With the exception of Oblivion (and depending on which Fallout games you mean) those are all good titles, but none of them will obviously offer infinite gameplay and replayability.

Again: if you really need to sink tons of time into something, I can't recommend semi-creative stuff like the aformentioned Factorio or Kerbal. It takes a bit of learning, but with their heavy mod potential and some multiplayer options, those can eat up hundreds of hours. But it's more "emergent" type of fun, comes from your own creativity. If you want something to more hold your hand and carry you through the experience, it's not really the way to go.

There aren't that many really big and somewhat emergent, multi-playthrough suited RPG's or RPG-esque games I can think of outside of those you mentioned.
If you liked Fallout 1/2, definitely try Arcanum. You could try TW3 if you had not yet: it's not a mechanical miracle, but the world is beautiful and well created and easy to get immersed in. Can clock up to some 150+ hours on one playthrough, but the replay value isn't great after that.

You could visit the old school RPG's: Baldurs Gate, Icewind Dale, Planescape Torment.

Or you could give Stalker a try. I remember wasting a good hundred hours on those games, but it has been AGES ago.

Or, if you want something really, and I mean REALLY FUCKING INSANE, go and get yourself the good old Pathologic, the old "Oblivion with a cancer" as somebody dubbed it. That can eat another 100 hours of your life if you can get into it.

Is VTMB worth getting? People keep hyping it up.
>>
>>379412174
Yeah, it's pretty damn sweet. It's one of those really flawed gems though. DEFINITELY get yourself the unofficial patch pack if you do buy it though, because it's virtually unplayble otherwise.

It's a clunky game with some serious balancing and pacing issues that got really rushed and the final third of the game is kinda ass, but my god does it have AMAZING atmosphere, story, characters, writing, soundtrack, and some pretty decent RPG aspects. Gameplay-wise, it's kinda like a more linear, slightely watered Deus Ex with worse level design and amazingly good dialogues.

As far as I'm aware swat 4 multi is still chugging along, but it's worth it for the single player. No game like it really, just indie shit that panders at it's memory like door kickers. SWAT 3 is also meant to be really good, but it's from a very different generation to 4 which meets modern FPS performance standards.

Currency is mostly irrelevant. You can make a purchase with any currency, but you will have to pay your bank's conversion rate. That's why it's good when they add other currency options, because it saves you from having to pay the conversion fee.

Have you never purchased anything that wasn't in your currency before?

>I thought HD was the only english-translated version, is the other the original?
The original version was translated by some random Russian studio without the developers supervision. The translators did not REALLY understand English, had about three months to translate the entirety of the 6000 pages of text, and their auto-translate software was apparently made by north Koreans.

What I'm getting at is that the Original version was translated into something that only superficially resembled English. It was borderline nonsense. Also, they had to censor a few minor things in the original version.

HD version was released primarily so the game would be comprehensible and make actual fucking sense in English. It's mainly a complete translation re-write (this time done by in-house translation team - it's still far from perfect but at least it's not gibberish). Also: it has some bug-fixes, compatibility fixes, and HD textures, and the few minor censored things were un-censored.

So mechanically, both are nearly identical, but the original is just really, really badly translated. HD is the way to go if you seriously want to play the game.

And while we are at it: Pic related might come handy. Good and spoiler free collection of tips and shit that should help you avoid some common mistakes and confusions.

An anon told me that Blood 2 hate is purely by oldfags mad that they ditched the mid 90's style level design (which is a good style though, but can get old) for an earlier 2000's linear design (think Wolfenstien or NOLF) and I like that too. So I bought it.

I have the original Blood already on Steam. So I will play both and see which one I like more.

they could learn about this game it in game design classes to showcase horrible design
>>

You should like it. I never understood the hate unless you want a deep emotional story or something. It doesn't feel at all like Blood but that isn't a bad thing. A Build engine game at the time would have bombed.

You are welcome. Good luck, because god knows with Pathologic, you are going to need it. That game is hell.

By the way, one last thing. If you find it interesting, but maybe too clunky or ugly or something (most people do, Pathologic is just not really "fun") - make sure to try the demo for the remake: Marble Nest. It's on Steam, for free and offers a really "condensed" version of what the bloody game is all about. It's only like two hours long too. Good for people who could not get into Pathologic but still want to see a bit more of the atmosphere.
>>
>>379418561
It's... a whole bunch of really interesting ideas that aren't executed all that well and littered by some MAJOR fucking massive design flaws.

But it's certainly novel and exciting at times. There is a really good review/analysis by Anderson up on the youtube, though it's I think two hours long and full of spoilers. But very informative and I could relate to just about everything he says.

So first of all, I don't think I'd claim that I am into "engineering stuff": I did enjoy three somewhat "engineering" (and the quotations are the for a reason) games: Factorio, Kerbal Space Program and SpaceChem. I'm completely technically clueless otherwise.

Second of all: It's not that I failed to grasp it. It's that I found it annoying to play. I have never seen such a bad U.I. design in my entire bloody life. I can entirely understand HOW it came to being, it's actually pretty obvious why it is the way it is, but that does not change the fact that it's god-awful and extensively counter-intutive. It's the absolute arbitrarity of the control scheme and U.I. that is just driving me up the wall.

The core U.I. issues? Well, unless something major changed in the past four or five years, no. It's not a matter of graphics pack, it's core U.I. design. And as far as I know, there is nothing that would really change that. I mean: the two guys who made the game don't even know where to begin fixing it. Doubt some basic asset pack fixes that.
It's possible that I'm wrong and someone miraculously fixed the U.I. recently, but I would expect more fuss being raised by that.

>>379417875
>An anon told me that Blood 2 hate is purely by oldfags mad that they ditched the mid 90's style level design
That was just icing on the cake. The movement felt like you are a flying camera and a piece of wet soap on the ice at the same time, making the character hard to control, and enemies were bulletsponge hitscanners with crazy accuracy How, do you think, devs did balance this? They gave the player 200 health instead of 100. Bravo.
And then the technical problems come. The game had glitchy early lithtech engine which apparently didn't like chewing many polygons at once, so expect really boxy and low-poly design of everything from bodies to levels. Animation is just bad. Voice acting? I think Gideon and Caleb are the only ones made with at least SOME effort. The blood effect here is really over the top, even for the Blood. You'll see it.
And then the style. Monolith ditched 1920s for not-that-far-future cyberpunk which was really generic, as well as handling the vampire themes in the late 90s-early 2000s style of Blade/Underworld/Bloodrayne. Remember the cultist language from the first game? Forget it, no such thing here.
Tl;dr - maybe it is not the worst game, but it is not the best either, not even that good. I bought it out of nostalgia, but still - if you want a good Monolith game or just a better early 3D accel FPS - play Shogo instead.

>How is Dragon Age Origins and Witcher 3 for someone who likes Dragon's Dogma and Dark Souls 3? I tried the first Witcher but couldn't get into it.
Not like those games at all. While some comparisons were made between TW2/3 and DS combat, they are largely misleading, they feel nothing alike outside of being, well, both third person action RPG's. TW3 is entirely story-driven game with focus on characters, dialogues and really beautiful environments, where gameplay - while functional and non-insulting - really takes the secondary track. Which is basically the opposite design to DD and DS.

As for Dragon Age: Origins, that game is just a watered down version of the old Infinity engine style RPG's. Mostly completely group-focused, tactical (but not really complex), also story-and-character-driven, and as fucking GENERIC as humanly possible. It's not awful, but today you might be better off just playing Baldurs Gate 2 instead.

All the bundles are already available, their terrible interface just doesn't show them all. At the top of the bundle list it says Today's Recommended Collections and All Collections. Oh.

Well there is Duke Nukem 3D, Shadow Warrior and Redneck Rampage. Those 3 and Blood are regularly noted as the best of the Build Engine games, though there are a few others too.

With Shadow Warrior, get the classic redux version, as it has all the expansions and works on modern systems are modern resolutions. There was one of these for Duke Nukem as well but fucking Gearbox put it down and replaced it with their own turd version. So go pirate Duke 3D Megaton Edition since it's no longer on Steam/GoG. Blood also has some expansions packs, but like all Monolith games are in legal limbo so they aren't available anywhere online and no HD versions. Redneck Rampage doesn't have a HD port but the GoG version has all expansions while the Steam version didn't until literally today but you have to buy it separately while GoG bundles it in free.

With some non-overhaul mods and maybe one overhaul mod (I don't recall which one I slapped on, it wasn't extensive but made the game far more approachable), it's an excellent game and an interesting approach to a more open-ended FPS.

If you go in with no mods, set your difficulty to the 'hardest' (odd explanation, look up why, others explain it better than I would)

Dead space is fucking great. i will agree with that guy that 2 is fucking amazing as well. ive played through it more than the original. just be aware the main character gets a voice actor and there's more talking, more human npcs, and even some jokes cracked here and there. It's definitely not as lonely and spooky as the original but still FUCKING AMAZING. would recommend 1 and 2. 3 is.. worth playing if you get it less than $10. co op is fun but it's hardly horror.

also be aware that dead space 1 is impossible to play with mouse. ive tried all the fixes and nothing works. it has to be played with a controller
