Sim emotions being an actual thing now and taking part in how they react to things and get new actions, several QoL improvements to build and buy modes, sims can finally multitask (read on the shitter, drink while talking, etc), more comprehensible ceate-a-sim methods for shaping your sim's body (at the cost of not being able to create genetic abominations without mods), and possibly more. What are you even implying? I fucking love The Sims. I'm complaining because The Sims 4 has barely been given any content compared to the other ones. The game came 3 years ago and still feels lacking in content compared to The Sims 2 (even worse if you compare it to sims 3). Which is a shame because I really like the new expansions and I really think that the game can become much better if they put some care into it. The going to work expansion is great because it finally lets you follow your sims at work.

Sims 4 also has 5 game packs. People usually treat each of them as half an expansion. So Sims 4 technically has 5 and 1/2 expansions.

Coding in the latest patch datas show that pets and seasons are coming soon.

My worse feelings is that the ways to fuck up a sim, including on a drastic level, are highly limited, if just not there at all. Sims 2 is just more fun because I can really crush and demoralize my sim before he goes ballistic and leads to the death of other sims before he at last passes away. I own legitimate versions of all Sims 4 retail content and I have probably played less than 80 hours for that $400 worth of software. Compared to the Sims 3, where I easily went over 500 hours. Possibly 1,000, but it was all stolen so I didn't have a timer.

The Sims 4 was literally a mobile game. In the early phases of development, the engine and core functions were designed for mobile devices. That is why the entire game is extremely limited in its scope and capabilities. The engine isn't flexible enough.

This is a fact - Sims 4 was meant to be a mobile game and changed to its current PC version in the middle of development. Google it up.

Sims 4 doesn't compare to Sims 3 because they weren't made for the same platform. Sims 4 is gimped by design on purpose.

The game simply couldn't handle the amount of content that EA poured into it. That shit has a fuckton of content packs and expansions.

This is more about how they structured DLC to be placed on top of the game like 2 books, instead of merged into 1 large book. In the end, you have a stack of 40 books instead 1 large volume. The entire game is fragmented. If you ever looked the the directory structure for the Sims 3 with all expansions, you'd notice a few things. Namely that every fucking expansion has its own set of common game files, executables, libraries, etc. None of them are merged to make a more efficient program. It's why the game can take 10 minutes to load on normal PCs after all expansions are added. The game is about 90% bigger than it needs to be and a total fucking disaster for efficiency.

To Sims 4's credit, they also have Game Packs which usually strike a happy medium between "more stuff" and "more stuff to DO". There's the Outdoors Game Pack which adds a bunch of outdoorsy stuff, but also lets your Sims visit a nature reserve and go camping in it. The Vampires pack adds Vampires and all the shit that goes with them, that sort of thing.

I mean, it's not a perfect solution, but it is a way for you, as a consumer, to get a better deal by purchasing just the packs of gameplay that interest you, and avoid having the pay for shit you don't care about.

Unless you want everything in which case... yeah it's a pretty terrible system. I guess EA figures most people only touch like a quarter of a game's content even if they've got all the expansion packs, so why not break those packs up and sell people the quarters they want? From an abstract, business-y perspective, it makes perfect sense!

Whatever Russians have already cracked all the packs and got the game running on an Origin emulator anyways.

To be fair that's probably the one thing it did right. Sims 3 would have stuff packs that would range up to 25 bucks. They were also more blatant with their deals and advertisements and were just plain awful in every way.

Dividing the packs by three: Item Packs, Game Packs and Expansions Packs were the only improvement they bothered to do and would've been more appreciated of how it was implemented if the base game itself wasn't already so shit.
