This is mostly true from what I've experienced. I only played IV and it was a fun game, but good grief is the start tedious. TP costs are insane at the very beginning, I really felt like quitting. But I preserved and after the 1st stratum everything became much more bearable.

Though I still got my shit caved in plenty of times.

The only tip I can give beginners that's worthwhile is that enfeebling spells actually work on everything. FOEs usually have a weakness that you can exploit, like binding their arms or silencing them.

A lot of people pick up EO and think it's another "Mash A to win!" RPG.
