"Hero shooters" are the worst thing to happen to the FPS genre in a long time
Prove me wrong
E-sports in general are killing gaming.
>>379395161
>casual
>>379394676
Why don't you just call them fps mobas?
>>379394676
Military shooter are the worst thing to happen to the FPS genre in a long time.
>>379395368
There's nothing wrong with competitive games, but the modern esports shit is cancer.
>>379396157
This.
>>379395368
Another mid tier shitter who will never be a professional gamer or make a dime playing games heard from.
>>379396157
esports existed since games did
fuck off
>>379396483
Games used to develop competitive scenes on their own because they had competitive merit. Nowadays, games develop competitive scenes because the developers pour literal millions of dollars into events as a form of advertisement.
>>379396651
How is this an issue exactly? That there's good rewards?
>>379396713
That the games don't have to prove themselves as good games. Do you honestly believe that Overwatch would have a scene if Blizzard wasn't there to throw money onto the fire?
>>379396780
Yea cuz those kind of games are the only esports games right?
What a fucking moron
>>379394676
Its not the hero shooters that are bad. Its when the shooter becomes "cool" and attracts normal fags
>>379396930
What are the others? ASSFAGGOTS where Valve kickstarts the prize pool with hats, and Riot has been dumping money onto it ever since the beginning? Or the worst Street FIghter to date? Or Call of Duty?
>>379396483
>comp = e-sports
This is incorrect.
Competitive play for a game just means people formalizing a system to play games against one another for digital fame.
e-sports is when it is monetized by the game owner and blown up into something more than a bunch of idiots who like a game playing for the fun of the sport.
It's the difference between High-school Football and Professional in the U.S.
>One is mostly for fun unless the coach is an autistic piece of shit who works their players to dead
>The other is mostly for profit and anyone playing for fun is gonna get cut from the rosters
>>379397231
Esports existed since games existed that's a fact no matter how you spin it dumbass
>>379397110
So you just ignore anything that doesn't have mutlimillion prizes or what?
Pretty retarded
>>379397231
>One is mostly for fun unless the coach is an autistic piece of shit who works their players to dead
Okay, let's be real here. I get your point, and what you're trying to use to illustrate it, but let's not pretend there aren't places in the US, especially smaller towns, where people go fucking apeshit over high school football, and shady shit starts happening.
The kind of shit going down with that gym teacher who was an olympic athlete and is now coaching the school team in Persona 5 is not exactly a new story.
>>379396780
this
>>379397491
>Esports existed since games existed
Show me a source on a monetized Pong tournament.
>>379397534
Also true. I suppose football is a shitty example since so many people take it overly seriously at all levels.
>>379397491
I'm going to ignore everything that is treated as nothing more than an advertisement by the developers.
>>379394676
I can't.
Overwatch is total and utter casualshit cancer and every single person who bought the game should have their /v/ privileges revoked.
>>379397881
why are you still posting then?
>>379394676
Yes Q3 Arena and QWTF are the worst things to happen.
>>379394676
I don't argue that it is terribadshit.
But the worst that has ever happened to FPS is iron sights.
Proved you wrong, /thread
>>379394676
Why?
>>379400508
Whats wrong with ironsights?
>>379403079
were you born after 2000 or something?
>>379396713
Because they make bad design choices in favor of trying to be like some other e-sport game instead of just making a good game and letting competitive scenes rise from that.
>>379394676
The problem with hero shooters is they're nearly impossible to balance and plagued with insta kill moves that lower the skill ceiling. They get mass appeal because this shit appeals to the lowest common denominator but they're not at all a proper competitive environment
>>379397881
>It's been a year
>He's STILL mad
