Did anybody else play the Monkey Story parody game of Maplestory? For some reason I was obsessed with it for about a month.
The game had some absolutely insane difficulty, slightly clunky controls, and very linear stealth sections, which is why it didn't meet any significant praise, but it was strangely fun.
>>379393761
I actually just started playing RBO again with friends in an attempt to fully beat it.
From the insane bastards that made Vangers, this equally mad cart racing game was the most strategic of its kind, to the point where you had actual option to play it in turn-based mode, planning out all your moves and power activations.

>tfw there was a planned second job patch but it never came to be
I wanted to be an assassin so bad.
>>379395741
How big is it now? Last I remember bapho was the final boss.
>>379395874
Three expansions came out for it.
The final boss of the original was Kafra, which was the stage after Baphomet (not including the secret stage)
The expansions added like 6 more stages
>>379395874
There are three expansion packs.

Best Pokemon game there is.
For an arena shooter it had the most intricate and complex single-player campaign. Also arena design was great.

Bomb-ass game.
It's in this weird plane, that lots of people played it, and if brought up everyone will agree that it's a great game, yet somehow it has nothing that would stand out about it so much that people would really remember it as one of their favorites.
Funny enough, ALSO made by the RBO guys before they went full time with Melty Blood, Dengeki Bunko, and Under Night.
It has one of the most satisfying combos and heavy hits of a fighting game I know.
But the chibi puppet art style threw everyone off.

Extremely fun.

>>379401031
I remember seeing this game and thinking it looked super fun every time I went into hollywood video as a kid but my parents always refused to rent it for me. Could never get my parents to do anything that involved spending money
I miss this game so much.
I have a soft spot for those games made by mid-range studios on the break of millenium, where they'd come up with innovative mechanic and try to explore it in a way to create a fun game around it, maybe slightly clunky, but completely unique and with passion for game design.
Nowadays industry's split into AAA, where to insert a new mechanic studio have to go through twenty executive meetings proving that there's a at least a dozen games with that mechanic and that they broke quarterly projected profits sale, or indie faggots who only insert mechanics that would show off their deep artistic meaning and wouldn't be fun for the player as a metaphor for life or deconstruction of the genre or some other bullshit.
Marvel licensed games of PS1-PS2 era were amazingly good, no matter what genre they went for.
Fuck, this thread's making me remember all those great games and want to replay them.
>>379395690
this is a very solid mid-tier game. I played it a bunch despite being kinda above-average. Great boss fights. I just wish the stage-design/enemy placement was a little more inspired. It was fun playing as the chick and chain-whipping everything.
She had a better story too, since Kage's story was just about his extreme homo-lust for the white-haired faggot. He even kills off the comic-relief bad-girls because they are in the way of his raging cock, while the chick spares them.

This game is the bane of my existence since childhood. Every time I think I may have grown smart enough to finish it, I play it and I can't solve those fucking puzzles. This shit makes all the Myst games look like toddler activity centers. Gorgeous graphics and atmosphere though.

>>379407767
This game was actually made by the same studio as Stalker.

Of course.
Great graphics even by today standards and absolutely sick speed of gameplay. Shame it was so short, but a game where you can press a button and turn into supersonic jet to battle giant flying enemy battleships and rain nuclear rain on enemy bases is great even if it lasts for only a couple hours.
>>379418958
My friend urged me to play it a couple months ago. It's pretty mediocre by today's standards.
>>379418958
Had a curious rival: Battle Engine Aquila. I'm not sure if the games were actually made with competition in mind, but they came at the same time and both featured transforming mech. Those BEA had a slower pace and more thought-through gameplay with more strategic missions, build choice and long branching storyline with multiple paths.
>>379407636
God, I always wanted to play that but never got the chance :(

It always annoys me with TCG-based games like MTG: DotP and Heartstone how often they just depict a table with cards, instead of using capability of the medium to depict cool creatures fighting each other. For that matter I really loved Etherlords series: good visual design and well-implemented MTG mechanics with slight streamlining in favor of quicker fights.
I'm kinda miffed that the Jazz level was just 3 stages and one of theme was a clock tower stage.
When it comes to old Batman games, people usually remember arcadey ones from NES and SNES, but on DOS there was a point-and-click adventure based off second Burton's movie. Not as cool as punching baddies in the face, but unlike those, this game actually made you feel like a detective Batman, and even the fights were done through administrating bat-tools you picked out when leaving bat-cave.
For whatever reason when people remember Crimson Skies it seems more often than not to be the Xbox game.

I do remember this'n.
Very little of it. Allegedly some controversy over some rumor being that the name was, "Murder death kill." But this was an earlier time in video games.

One Must Fall 2097
Everyone remembers that fucking ending but no one seems to have actually played it. I wish I could get an actual thread on it going but every time I try it just dies with either zero replies or a shitpost or two.
RBO had fucking god-tier music too.

Not even.
The male merchant is way better; female merchant is useless.
The Male Acolyte has a more useful angle on his holy light, and not having lariat isn't really all that bad since the stat requirement requires you to be end-game to begin with.
Male archer is more useful outside of Arrow Shower. I'd said it's the female's only real advantage. It's just that arrow shower is so good that it makes the female better.
Male and Female mage are almost identical, but his fire bolt is way easier to aim and his dash is faster.
