Masterpiece:
>incredible fluid gameplay
>superb customization
>options are so expansive you can tailor your own difficulty setting
>game rewards you for making it harder on yourself
>multiple ways to play with plenty of systems to support your very own playstyle.
>ability to change playstyle on the fly
>interesting themes and story

Flaws:

>corners cut in the story due to time constraints, making the ending an anticlimactic mess
>letting Americans create mgo3
>most misunderstood game since mgs2. Both in terms of story and gameplay (but that's arguably not really the game's fault)

As soon as I heard Big Boss just decides to leave for whatever the fuck reasons and some random take his place I decided I will never EVER play this game.

How can anyone defend this? The single most pathetic attempt at a retcon or explanation why Bigboss is the "bad guy" in later game. Kojimas gay boner for big boss made him go full retard.

Gameplay is great. Shame world design leaves so much to be desired. I would've loved mgs3 formular of large levels interconnected, but that actually allow multiple ways to transverse. Mgs3 formular for level design worked so well.

Why couldn't mgsv have been 19-20 Omega sized maps?

It's up there for me. The open world approach is nice for breaching how you see fit but there is a lot of dead space all the same. I wouldn't say the level design is bad but it lacked more indoor areas and underground areas. I liked what was there, but It just needed some more diversity.

I'm with you OP, the story is shit, but the gameplay is really fun and rewarding. It's not perfect: waiting for helicopters sucks, and sometimes I feel like the "open world" is not that well utilized, but infiltrating is fun as fuck. It doesn't feel like MGS, but I'd be all over it if it was a new IP.

Going full stealth no weapons, meleeing every heavy soldier for collection, stealth meleeing an entire region for collection.

It's beautiful, and the run and gun action when I equip the '67 and just rampage is absolutely brutal and satisfying.

The only thing I didn't like is how later on you have to replay earlier mission with restrictions.

Besides the ending that was probably the only problem I had with the game (I'm never big on online shenanigans)


The weapons are all so well balanced.
Great game, hopefully Death Stranding measures up to it gameplay wise.

The combat's not even bad. It's just that many children just gotta kick and scream and cry when a game doesn't have that CUHRAYZEE Platinum gameplay.

That would've worked much better, there would be way less open space where there is literally nothing to see and there would've been a nice variety of environments. As-is the game had way too much space between enemy strongholds, so way too much time is spent traveling without anything to do or see.
