Best full operator game I´ve ever played.

As soon as I heard Big Boss just decides to leave for whatever the fuck reasons and some random take his place I decided I will never EVER play this game.

How can anyone defend this? The single most pathetic attempt at a retcon or explanation why Bigboss is the "bad guy" in later game. Kojimas gay boner for big boss made him go full retard.

Gameplay is great. Shame world design leaves so much to be desired. I would've loved mgs3 formular of large levels interconnected, but that actually allow multiple ways to transverse. Mgs3 formular for level design worked so well.

Why couldn't mgsv have been 19-20 Omega sized maps?

I loved the gameplay but dropped it completely when they started adding items that only the most autistic Japanese FOB farmers could make with 999,999,999 materials to research.

It's up there for me. The open world approach is nice for breaching how you see fit but there is a lot of dead space all the same. I wouldn't say the level design is bad but it lacked more indoor areas and underground areas. I liked what was there, but It just needed some more diversity.

It was a great game indeed. Perhaps the magnum opus of kojimas career were it not for policenauts {which I found to have a much more compelling story than all the mgs games combined}

I'm with you OP, the story is shit, but the gameplay is really fun and rewarding. It's not perfect: waiting for helicopters sucks, and sometimes I feel like the "open world" is not that well utilized, but infiltrating is fun as fuck. It doesn't feel like MGS, but I'd be all over it if it was a new IP.

Masterpieces cannot be flawed in any way.

Going full stealth no weapons, meleeing every heavy soldier for collection, stealth meleeing an entire region for collection.

It's beautiful, and the run and gun action when I equip the '67 and just rampage is absolutely brutal and satisfying.

The only thing I didn't like is how later on you have to replay earlier mission with restrictions.

Besides the ending that was probably the only problem I had with the game (I'm never big on online shenanigans)


The weapons are all so well balanced.
Great game, hopefully Death Stranding measures up to it gameplay wise.

I'm stunned they didn't make dlc with more generic missions or a mini storyline with a new map. Best case scenario they could have created tools for the players to set up their own side ops and made a seperate online side ops rotation.

The combat's not even bad. It's just that many children just gotta kick and scream and cry when a game doesn't have that CUHRAYZEE Platinum gameplay.

It has a lot in common with Zelda Breath of the Wild imo.
Carefully crafted world, tons of tools to choose from, great physics and movement, unfinished ending.

I prefer Zelda but both are good.

It was fantastic, but it had the potential to be so much greater. It honestly hurts thinking about, not in a "what a terrible game" way but in a "left me disappointed" way.

That would've worked much better, there would be way less open space where there is literally nothing to see and there would've been a nice variety of environments. As-is the game had way too much space between enemy strongholds, so way too much time is spent traveling without anything to do or see.
