I'm a laptop fag too (GE72VR 7RF, MSI Mustardrace), they look so pretty. But I would forever ever switch to a desktop if I could, I mean, with your budget, you could get the same specs for alittle cheaper (or same budget and get some really fancy shit, like water cooling and quad fans or something) but I assume you're constantly on the move. Laptops are a hit or miss, and will eventually heavily degrade because of overheating, I say this from experience.

Still can't resist how fancy MSI laptops look. That's a weird keyboard set up though.
