Do you think PC gamers who play games online or download games should be charged extra for internet access? Sounds fair when they usually use more data than other users and make internet traffic more congested for everybody else. I'm personally all up for government and internet companies enforcing data caps all over the world, internet would be better without all these heavy gamers.
Video/audio streaming uses more data than gaming.
Then again, this is a bait thread designed to garner delicious (you)s.

fpbp
>tfw no data cap
I had a 12GB a day cap in uni halls and that was difficult.

>Video/audio streaming uses more data than gaming
Do you have proof?
>hurr durr anything I don't agree with is bait
>>379329986
You made a fair point, after thinking about it for a while i agree.

It's between the ISP and the customer.
If you don't like it, fuck right off.

nice try comcast

Ive made ~1.5k a month from tournaments playing video games for the last 4-5 months and I've downloaded about 10GB worth of games. Meanwhile I downloaded like 8TB worth of anime in like 5 weeks. I think its the weebs who should be bottlenecked.

http://www.nbnco.com.au/blog/entertainment/how-much-data-does-gaming-use-through-popular-examples.html
The ballpark for video streaming is around 250mbps, gaming at 10mbps. It would take 25 hours of playing video games to equal 1 hour of HD streaming, and plenty of people watch at least 3-4 times that much HD content per day.
So we should obviously be throttling Netflix/Cruchyroll users, since they're hogging the most bandwidth.

You know damn well the ISPs themselves can't do shit, if they try to enforce data caps they'll have a legion of people trying to sue them, if they don't have support from the goverment like with actual legislation and shit they'll get nowhere.
>>379329986
fair doesnt matter
everyone here should oppose this in a heartbeat
>>379330778
most people would oppose yeah but that's just because they have no idea how much better internet would be if everybody had data caps
>>379330895
I have fast internet that never slows and use like 3TB a month. How much better could it be?

>Do you have proofs that streaming 1080p plus video/audio encoded data uses more bandwidth than playing an online game
Yes, my fucking brain.
>>379329986
Online gaming even mmos use less bandwidth than streaming videos. Leave it to single moms to continue being parasites in all facets
by and large people already get charged based on the bandwith they hog, whether that's caps or connection speed preventing them from using certain services
you better believe we pay fucking premium for our connection
