Why are E-Sports destroying gaming?

e-celebs are destroying /v/
This is some fgc fag whining about the fgc. He's using the term e-sports disingenuously. We're doing just fine over here in CSGO. Dota is doing just fine, too.
I get where he's getting at but it's the only way people can make a living in competitive video games. Not letting the competitive scene organically grow sucks but it let's people that can't finish top 8 consistently still do it and make the tournaments more entertaining. I do miss the amateurness of fight game tournaments we used to have and not having evo sellout to sony
Esports is killing gaming the way professional sporting leagues killed sportsmanship. It's all shit to trick you into buying equipment and merch.

>Dota
Nice way to prioritize the game's quality towards a smaller playerbase like pros and not the rest of the community to make them more fair and accesible so everyone hasn't to rely in what these idiots are doing constantly just to copy them and making the game the most boring thing you have to deal with every fucking match. Just fine.

if dota is too hard for you, anon, you can always go play league or hots

Its not that its destroying gaming, its just changing the FGC in a way that a lot of people don't like but you basically have to conform to in order to stay relevant. It makes tournaments and events and even streaming to an extent more corporate and forced than it used to be.
There are good aspects and bad aspects of it for fighting games and it isn't inherently a bad thing, its just taking away the soul and enjoyment for people with a more old school mentality. However it can serve to help keep the genre alive with the money it generates and help increase casual sales since a lot of companies cant get by on just core audience sales anymore.
Its a bit of a necessary evil for the FGC at this point in gaming and marketing.

You appear to have linked to some footage shot at the local zoo. What does that have to do with video games?
>>379286649
wasn't an argument, fampai, just a suggestion
You would be down a genre if not for e-sports, fighting games would have died in the 2000. All the shitty FGC crap only started when the Melee debate started and it's all been downhill. See SFV's barebones launch.
