I understand where you're coming from anon, and to an extent, I can understand your logic. The Wii U did have a decent number of really good games that never got into consumers' hands because of its poor sales, so in a sense, porting the games over to a console that seems to be selling significantly better is good business practice. All that development time won't have gone to waste after all.

What I'm concerned about is this becoming a regular business practice. Nintendo still has a certain amount of "integrity" that comes from not following the scummier business practices that Sony and Microsoft do, such as rereleasing games that aren't even a decade old on new hardware. It sort of makes sense for Nintendo to do this now, releasing games from poor-selling hardware back on well-selling hardware, but they're only going to get away with this for so long. I don't know about the rest of the Nintendo fanbase, but I for one, will call them out if they start doing this on a regular basis.

Gonna stop you right there console wars poster. It is okay for both. More games =good. Porting teams weren't gonna dev the greatest game of all time until they got porting duty. Nothing is lost from this.
