The 3DS version is actually pretty nice ever since they made larger world sizes available when playing on n3DS. It runs well and has a good control scheme.

It used to be absolute garbage since it only had the tiny world size available, which is so fucking small all the biomes structures would clip into eachother and basically make things unplayable.

with every update I had to make a new world and build a new local base, every time.
creativity wanes, get mad fucking burnt out, and end up not even creating enough rooms to contain the NPCs and end up having a "temporary" commie block some distance away.

What the fuck do I even do after exploring for a few hours and getting a few NPCs to live with me?

First you defeat the three main bosses, Eye of Cthulu, Eater of Worlds and Skeletron. Then you explore deep into the dungeon.

Dig deep into hell to get Hellstone armor and find the Guide Voodoo Doll to ritualistically sacrifice so you can summon the boss Wall of Flesh and defeat it, which then activates the fae Hallow which begins taking over the world. You then use the hammer dropped by the wall of flesh to destroy demon altars to create new ores that pop in throughout the world. After improving your items and exploring Hallow underground caves, you need to use reversal potions to reach the sky and eventually kill the dezinens there, using both their shit and what you killed from the hallow/corruption/crimson to form items that summon mecha versions of the first three bosses.

You defeat those bosses to get access to wings, then you pop into the underground jungle and find a tiny bud to fight the underground boss Planterra, who then allows you to access the Underground Jungle Temple. After traversing the trap filled temple and defeating the boss there, you can go back to the Dungeon.

After you return to the dungeon, there are new items and enemies to be found. You can farm these and the underground jungle shit between Frost Moon invasions, Pumpkin invasions and martian alien invasions. If it's an alien invasion, you can get a sick UFO as a mount.

Now, back to the dungeon. There are four Lunar Cultists. If you defeat them, they summon the next boss, the Lunatic cultist. Defeat him to change the world again.

The Lunatic Cultist drops a forge that lets you make endgame gear. The fuel for it, however, can only be found by the new Celestial pillars. These pillars are like geysers of magic spread across the world, vomiting lategame enemies at you. You've got to fight through the enemies and the anti-air fuckheads. 100 of them in total. Then the shield to the Celestial Pillar drops and you can defeat it, then use the bitz to craft new gear.

At that point, you can then either make gear and respec, or head to the other Celestial pillars.

Upon defeating all four Celestial Pillars, the world itself is torn asunder and The Moon Lord appears. Defeat it to finally beat the game (Until they add more content )

Progression is Underground gear->killing Eye of Cthulu->Getting a pick strong enough to break Demonbrix-> Destroying shadow orbs->Meteorites+ Eater of Worlds-> Skeletron->Dungeon->Hell->Wall of Flesh->Hardmode.

Right now, pre EoC, you're like 5% of the way through. Good luck man.
