This game was the fucking bomb. I remember going to my mom's job and printing off the game FAQs guide to it as a kid, and the motherfucker was like 500 pages long. Purple martial arts guy was GOAT

Haschel was fucking great, yeah.

I always felt the story and universe had a lot of potential and that this could be a franchise. Perhaps an animated show in the same style as the cutscenes.

It's overrated. It will always have a place in my heart for being my first JRPG. I actually remember how I bought it.

I miss when the Greatest Hits were fifteen bucks.

For everything it did right it did something wrong. The combo system was great but the combat got dull with the lack of magic outside of the dragoon forms. One of the first games I remember having voice acting in cutscenes. You think the Tidus laugh was bad? Try listening to Dart repeat everything someone is saying during the history lesson cutscenes.

Yeah, the voice acting was horrible, the texts were full of errors, and with all the forced random encounters shit got tedious. But I remember being very impressed with the game at the time. It had a lot of great music and a solid story, except some glaring plot holes.

Yoshida himself confirmed that a sequel was in its infant stage a short time after the original was released, but it was canceled. This was in 2012. Then people got hyped because it was released on PSN for the PS3, taking it as a sign I guess.

Verendus from NeoFAG also fuelled it (Or started it to begin with, I'm not entirely sure) by saying Sony had an internal JRPG in the works back in the early days of the PS4. He got a few leaks right that showed that he clearly had some kind of contact in the industry (Or was just a Sony astroturfer), but also got caught out lying a few times and has since been banned for posting fake FFXV shit.

So take it all with a grain of salt, particularly after the aforementioned Yoshida thing.
