Came back from a long hiatus and I am enjoying the game again. The Centurion and Shinobi are broken as fuck though dear lord.

I've picked up and dropped the game a few times. It has a really good idea and system in place, but it really feels like the devs just don't play their own game, or don't give enough of a fuck about it to really make sweeping balance changes. It took them months to make Lawbringer playable, then another month later they made Raider playable, etc. It's too little and it's much too slow.

Picked it up for a week or two recently to fight and mess with the new characters and they're just so much better than the current characters it's sickening. Not even speaking power-level wise (though both are fucking insanely good and not fun to fight as one of the older characters), but they just have like 3x the moveset and options of the previous characters and it makes you think how much better the game would have been if they put that much effort and attention into everyone on the roster.

Meanwhile I'm mostly playing Shugoki, who has like five fucking moves total, all of which are bad. Fighting Centurion/Shinobi is just absolutely not fun, and I have to assume that all the rest of the new heroes coming out are going to be this way so I'm just done.

The damage was done the first month this game was out and there is no recovery for Ubisoft.

Biggest issue is hyper armor on his kick attack, meaning that he can bash you through any move and gets a free heavy attack out of it for no risk.
The kick itself is unpunishable even on whiff and Shinobi can do double dashes that let him disengage like a motherfucker and never come to grips.
He's also got ranged attacks and a guardbreak that are unpunishable too with enough spacing.

Doubtful. I can't personally think of anything that would fly in a class action in regards to that stuff, because it was never advertised as being anything otherwise. As for claims of stuff like "not supporting the game", the company isn't liable for that. Unless the game actively harms your computer/system, they're not responsible for anything. That's why total garbage gets thrown up on the steam store, PSN, XBLA, and just never gets updated after it's release, but still mysteriously goes on sale and has "announcements" about the new games the dev is releasing.

Whatever, I got my 100 hours out of it. The game is fun but flawed at its core, defensive play is too good and only 3-4 characters are viable competitively. Ubi refused to listen to the pro players about game health, as a result a lot of players quit because of PK, who was broke as fuck and she might still be, I haven't played in a while. When someone in the vg discord sent the lead dev a tweet showing how PK could just pop revenge and then spam zone attack indefinitely, and the dev acted surprised like he didn't know about it, even though people had been spamming it for at least a month, I knew the game was fucking done for.

Maybe it'll pull a Siege, i.e. be complete dogshit on release, then get fixed a year later and become a really good quality game, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

Just ranting here and feel tired from the bullshit.

The core gameplay loop revolved around finding the best way to put someone in your cheesy gimmick before they put you in yours. There was a skillgap there and chasing it was gratifying for me for the first few weeks, but it just got old so fast. I'm not super bitter about it or anything like that as I easily put like 80 hours or so into the game, but in the end it just wasn't that fun to play once everyone got gud. I maintained some pretty absurd stats for a little bit because of the Warden Vortex, but it just stopped being interesting to me.

Devs were talking with people when I quit, but they just didn't seem to understand a lot of the problems with the game. I'm not sure they could fix them if they did as some of it was just baked into the core gameplay mechanics, but it was frustrating.

Oh, and the netcode was like "how the fuck did they release this?" terrible. There's games with shitty netcode that people complain about and then there's games like For Honor that literally disconnect you every third game. Crazy.
