Kenny has been stiring shit up and overall behaving like a total retard for the longest time. Clem didn't talk much to him in the chapter 1, where he also always steered conflict. She meets him in chapter two, they reconcile, Clem glad to see him, but he's still being a jerk towards Clem's new group for no reason. He takes one for a team in the camp, and overall being less of a douche there. Next thing his girlfriend dies and he becomes unstable and refuses to talk to anyone, he's also angry at you, if you decided to chop his girlfriend hand. He beats down the russion despite it being absolutely unnecessary and group being against that. At this point Jane didn't do anything too stupid or irrational, outside of fucking with Luke, but compared to what Keeny was pulling off, it was very mild mis-step. You also bonded with her quite a bit over this time. When the situation in question occurs they're both your allies and friends, yet one behaves in a very unstable manner where the danger is high due to the storm as wll as walkers around the place. He refuses to listen to reason. At this point Jane essentially defending her life. There's literally no reason for you not to save her. Kenny is far too gone at this point. Everything that happens after this critical moment is absolutely another story.
