get more ram and poptarts
>>
>>379195865
Add another hard drive. 1TB isn't what it used to be. Especially with the OS installed on it.
>>
>>379196129
>more ram
for what purpose?
video games barely use 4gb still
>>
>>379195865
Pick up an R5 1400, same price basically and it'll OC to 4ghz easy on the stock cooler. + a few years down the line you can pick up a Zen 3 or something, which has been confirmed to be on the same socket.

Good PSU choice though. Most /v/ kiddies skimp on that.

>falling for the intel i5 meme when ryzen exists

moron
>>
>>379197908
This. G4560 is the only clear win Intel has right now. i3's are too close in price to the 1400, locked i5's will all get beaten by OC. 7600K and 7700K are only good in the short term, and Broadwell-E is hilariously overpriced.
>>
you need 16gigs of ram today. and i would change the cpu to ryzen. otherwise it's ok if you have to include a display in the budget.
>>
>>379196678
I have 6gb and I find myself at 90% used frequently. At that point Windows starts caching to disk and freezes become frequent.
>>
Word of warning, if you bother to change the CPU manufacturer you need to change the motherboard too. If you don't want to then just get more ram.
>>
What the hell is that HDD
>>
>>379195865
change to ryzen cpu, change video card to 580, find 144hz 1080p monitor for similar price

OP here
I have another build with a Ryzen 5 1500X but I'm not entirely sure what benefits it would have over an i5 7500. I'll mostly be playing vidya on it and out of all the benchmarks I've looked at for the 1500X, it's lost to the i5.
>>
>>379199013
>144 hz for $130
Sure buddy.
>>379200229
The i5 that you are buying or i5, overclocked to 4+ Ghz? I don't think 7500 can beat 3.9 Ghz Ryzen 5.
>>
>>379195865
Avoid the corelet life and get a 1600 instead.
>>
>>379195865
>8gb of ram

It's not 2012 anymore senpai
>>
>>379199013
I have a 144hz 1080p monitor

I fucking regret it because it was $300 for a TN screen, whose colors are hardly accurate.

Link? Most benches have them at stock clocks which is hilarious. That i5 can't overclock. The ryzen 1500x can.

Never buy into niche. Wait for people. REAL PEOPLE consumers to test it first. Why take the risk. i5 will be fine. Not like OP wants to open Windows excel faster.
>>
OP here again.
Because I have an ATX power supply and a Micro ATX case would that mean they're incompatible? I don't want to order these parts and realize I can't use the PSU.
>>
>>379201302
nobody can answer this correctly. go to both manufacturer's websites and look at the measurements.
>>
>>379201295
The only advantage i5s even have over the 1600 is very slightly better average fps in some games, they get creamed in almost everything else

jeez, I thought PC master race xDDD was supposed to be cheaper.
>>
>>379204745
The wording is horrendously misleading.
Calling a GTX 1050 Ti "good" e.g. Calling a fucking i3 7100 (2C/4T) fucking "very good".

The original Falcon guide wasn't a terrible idea, but whoever does that site needs to be kept from giving anybody any advice at all.

I would amend it to this. SSD is optional and would put you close to your original price point. However, it does make a big difference imo.
>>
>>379204973
Oh and if you hover over tiers, you get some completely worthless star-rating for the performance.
Instead of something actuallly useless, like an average FPS or frametime, they have the 4-star AND 5-star rating for 4K gaming reserved.

Start with SSD, add HDD later.
>>
OP here
Here's my other build with Ryzen
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/26zdTH
>>
>>379206047
I personally would take the Ryzen 5 1600 and OC it to R5 1500X levels, which should easily be doable.
The additional 2 native cores will probably make a bigger difference in the long run than the additional non-OC 300 Mhz.
>>
>>379195865
Get Ryzen 1600 or 1400 then OC it which can easily match a stock 7500
