I was a really bad shut in about 6 or 7 years ago. This is literally how it is overcome. You force yourself out with a safety zone (aka friends and family) surrounding you. Even though it's terrifying as fuck eventually you learn that you can take safe spaces with you inside of hiding in your room.

I'm too autistic for that and I wouldn't even know where to begin.

I also don't like most modern TV shows, fads, and pretty much anything, so I'd have trouble getting along with the majority of people, and see no real reason to find someone with my same interests outside of the internet.

I am still terrified of going around meeting people for fair enough reasons. At the start of highschool however, after being isolated 3 years prior for getting into a really bad fight in elementary, my brother introduced me to some people who are my friends to this day. I go to a bar probably five days a week. I live on a beach island so it's not like your typical downtown bars. I go out so often because I can't stand being alone.
