>Side quest in a game has a better story than most games' main story

Baron is part of the main story though. You have to do it to advance.

Barons story is one of the best side stories in a game ever desu
Its up there with Dakkons story

Every Fable game.
Fuck whoever wrote the main story in each of those.
>>379177340
>side quest
It isn't but yeah that quest chain alone is better than anything Bioware has dished out since Mass Effect 1.

I recently replayed ME1 and it's nowhere near as good as I remember, most of it is pretty generic quests actually.

>Card game minigame is better than your main gameplay
Well, to compensate that, main W3 story is absolute dogshit.
Baron + Novigrad + DLC is the best part of an entire game.
Everything Ciri-related is pure garbage and i hate Sapkowski for ever introducing this shit character.

that includes TW3
why is cdpr incapable of crafting a main story without cutting a half of it 6 months before the release?
>>379177340
It's common really, noticeably among Todd's games.
>Oblivion
>Morrowind
>Fallout 3
>Dude Sex Mankind Divided
>both Mass Effects
>VTM Bloodlines
>Witcher 2 and 3, perhaps one too
>probably Batman Arkham City, though the side missions were very short

I'd say the random monster hunting in the wilds and small villages is much better than Ciri-related quests.

In general Mass Effect 1 is way too fondly remembered. It's an important game, sure, but it has probably the worst combat of any RPG I've played, and anything that's not a main quest is an absolute bore.

Compared to everything Bioware has made since ME1. I'd say it's much better. I liked the first half of ME1 when you are exploring planets. I remember enjoying that quest chain with those Zerg-like aliens on that frozen planet. The quest where you speak to a reaper for the first time was good too. It went to shit near the end.
Then again, I haven't played that game in years. I don't know how well it's aged, but I recently replayed Jade Empire and it was still 10/10 for me. Same with Kotor I & II (I know this is Obsidian).
This will sound like a hipster thing to say but after Bioware went mainstream all their games felt vapid. Like they worked out a checklist and had to hit every cliche for the genre they picked for their RPG.

ME1 was generic as fuck even back then. What saved it was Shepard, atmosphere, ost and space setting.
