Ive tried many times to get into GG Xrd but the gameplay is just totally uninviting, most of the cast have a linear pressure -> knockdown -> oki ball -> get fucked mixup -> repeat structure that asks a lot of new players.

It isnt so much that, as the effort required to see any results is a massive investment in GG compared to most other fighters

In GG you must know the individual character MU very well, you cant do anything unless you absolutely know how minus/plus the entire enemy's kit is so you know when you can actually reliably challenge their pressure. If you dont know this you can never escape pressure without using burst/dead angle etc because resets are so fast and hard/impossible to react to in GG. If anyone who says otherwise is just lying, 15f overheads are not reactable.The Leo example is a perfect case of this, hes infamous for stomping shitters becuase his entire kit is endless pressure that has no clear ending that requires player knowledge to escape from (like just frame blocking his low kick so its punishable on block) This is without even starting to go into the really unfavourable situations GG places the defender in when they eat the dirt and take a knockdown. Most of the cast throw out an Oki ball forcing the defender to anticipate a throw, high, low, jump in, air dash jump in with as many as 4 overhead attacks before they even start their real pressure and so on.

You GG players justify a lot of this stuff with git gud etc and im not even calling it bad. All im saying is this is a prime recepie for anyone starting fighting games saying "fuck this" and playing literally anything else.

It's easy to say as a veteran that getting bodied a million times is just part of it and it's just an opportunity to improve, but if a new player plays against a veteran, he will just get bombarded with so much shit at once in rapid succession that he won't even know where to start.
