Gamekino

The saddest thing about this movie is that everyone who worked on it hated it. Problems with the directors led to extreme frustration for the rest of the cast and crew and made them all wish they hadn't worked on it. So unfortunate for a movie so lighthearted and fun.

It's highly subjective but I'm a sucker for alternate universes/alternative interpretations of things, so seeing all of the unique little ways they interpreted Mario characters and settings was cool to me. You know how the Internet is full of weird and wild alt-art of Mario that depicts it as realistic or otherwise vastly different from the games? The movie is basically that, but in the form of a Hollywood movie. Think of it in that way and not as a direct adaptation and you might enjoy it more.

The only excuse I have ever heard as top why SMB was bad is, "It's nothing like the games!" But I don't know what they expected it to be like if it was live action. Headbutting/punching bricks? Jumping on heads? Eating mushrooms and growing? Getting hurt and shrinking?

I loved it's realistic almost surreal look at the mario franchise. I love this movie and can't think of anything I hate about it. And I love that they just didn't make a sequel(which probably would have sucked) and just left it at that awesome cliff hanger.

I don't know about all that, but I do think that there should be a Street Fighter reboot closer to the video games than the original movie.

The Studio executives were feaking because the directors were the creators of Max Headroom and wanted the whole thing to be feaky and otherworldly. They just didn't expect PG Chronenberg. Also apparently they were awful people to work with, the actors, writers and crew hated them because they kept talking about "Their vision" and they burned their bridge with hollywood.

I think AV Club asked Dennis Hopper about it before he died in one of their Random Roles articles and he said it was one of the worst projects he worked on mainly because of the directors.

I wanted to post Warcraft, but i would be lying if i didn't say i absolutely loved some parts of that movie.

The orcs were spot on, Gul'dan was perfect and Blackhand was badass.
