They are most likely just passion projects by members of the team that get greenlit cause they turn a profit. Just like soul survivor and all the other 3ds remakes

The games are all good enough on their own and as far as im aware not one of the remakes has been worse than the original so far. The only problem is the Atlus Tax but cfw is a thing now

Remakes are an easy way for their non-essential personnel to remain employed doing work for secondary titles. I see no problem with this. The games won't ever be localized though, because Atlus hates you if you're not Japanese. I don't believe the changes seen thus far are bad.

I think they're underdoing it. After playing FE Echoes and seeing how they remade an old-ass NES game, and then looking at Atlus's efforts of barely touching up a DS game it's easy to see this is just being done quickly and cheaply.

Atlus has done more 3DS remakes of completely original Megaten DS games now than original 3DS Megaten games.

They are overdoing the everloving fuck out of it. Lazy cunts.
