Bloodborne would be at the top of my "Fromsoft game" list if not for the paid online of the PS4. it really kills the game and it's longevity for me.

Though honestly, part of the issue is compared to DaS1 or 2, Bloodborne really feels like it is severely lacking in customizability. And while the DLC may have solved it's lack of weapons, they are still all locked behind endgame content. Which means if you want a particular weapon, you can't actually run the game with it unless you are a madman and rush the DLC at low level as soon as you beat cathedral ward. Bloodborne's variety problems tend to stem more from most of the interesting stuff being endgame content.

I just beat the reborn one ( im pretty sure i didnt miss any optional bosses before him, on my first playthrough so idk) and the whole game so far takes like 10 minutes per area and 2-3 tries per boss. The only hard things are the npc hunters whose guns are fucking BORKEd and have crazy amounts of health.

Got to borrow a PS4 from a buddy and finally play it a couple weeks ago.
Great game, but totally overrated. I'd put it right in the middle of the Souls series. Not worth buying a console for, but definitely worth $60. I'd buy it in a heartbeat if they ever came out with a PC version, since many of the problems with the game were due to the PS4.

After playing (almost) every game in the soulsborne series I can safely say
3 > BB > 1 > 2
Three is the most complete game, without any obviously unfinished content.

Bloodborne is really held back by Chalice Dungeons instead of of actually interesting content, and Gems are really dumb because they make you swing between overpowered for most of the game ( I only ever play NG, so I don't know if this is true for NG+ and beyond ). I literally beat the game and was thinging 'that's it?' because I didn't feel like I had even played it that long, nor was Murgos Wet Nurse an obvious climax. Did I mention how terrible Chalice Dungeons are? And you have to do it with every. single. character.

One has an entire rushed second half, retards who think One is the best are only rating it based on nostalgia

Two is just a clusterfuck of annoying design decisions. You can't play it like any other souls game, it should have been a different IP entirely maybe then in it's sequels it could become polished.

The beast scourge is what destroyed his mind and body. His sword was a magical, arcane weapon he discovered a long time ago which he used to smite beats as he led the common people of Yharnam against the beast scourge.

The high ranking members of the church like Laurence and Amelia are good examples of this. I am doing this right now with Nier: Automata. I want to finish it but I can't stop playing Bloodborne even though I'm on my fifth consecutive playthrough of it.

Fight clubs and random duels are alright I guess, but all the best pvp action happens at twink levels, where no one is following any silly duelist rules. I'm talking about unbalanced, dirty fights where you can heal and where the invader uses the enemies / environment to his adantage.

Just make a super-gemmed up twink that can take out your average beckoner and his two cooperators out all by himself. At those low levels, you sometimes start seeing anti-twinks who bluff as weak cooperators, just to hunt and kill over-gemmed invader twinks like you. Or you can become one of these anti-twink cooperators yourself.

Everyone is ganking in groups of two or three and worrying about super twinks coming to invade, but many don't have the gems to do damage because it's so hard to get them at that level. It happens all over the game, in almost all areas from Hemwick to the Fishing Hamlet. The desperation and intensity you feel during those 2v1 or 3v1 fights make for some of the most exhilarating moments you can have in BB. A lot of people have no idea there is this much activity in BB area coop (outside the SRRC), because at higher levels people seem to only summon for the bosses or odd password-only sessions.

Unfortunately, you have to *make* a twink to compete, and that is hard as fuck. Usually requires help from some friends (unless you are good enough to farm gems from depth 5 cursed dungeons at level 50-60 by yourself). But you get out of it what you put into it.

Basically, the game is much more fun if you try to stay really low level (doing your damage through your gems) all the way through the game, and summon your low level twink friends help you do it while constantly battling invaders along the way

Honestly, I love it. In my experience it seems to be some anomaly in the game. Like, you'd imagine basically a wrist mounted knife to have disadvantages in BB, right?? But on so many bosses that seem to divide the population of people who played the game (namely Amelia and Rom for example) I thought were a breeze. 2 isn't even complete, the final build was made in 6 months from scraps of a previous build because Namco thought it was too different to the first game. The reason it makes no sense is because they had very little time to rewrite the lore to fit the new rushed layout. The four Great Souls only happened because they needed an explanation as for why those routes ended on that particular boss; for example The Rotten wasn't the reincarnation of Niro or whatever but just an artificial guardian of the entrance to Shulva, which was also cut then reimagined for the DLC. The original plot was always just the Crowns plus the Shards of Manus but Namco didn't like it so what we got was CYCLES LMAO and a game even more cycled in development than DaS1. DaS3 was clearly rushed too but we don't know to what extent since they've been super hush on that one.

Is Bloodborne kino or ludo?

Here's why I believe it has both elements despite being more akin to more ludoscrophic works (ludo). First we must differentiate the two as well as drawing comparisons between them to a more recognisable standard (flick).

Flick - Something that doesn't require much thought. It's easily deciphered, consumed and processed.

Kino - Something that has many objectively thought provoking qualities as well as shrouds of abstract filler layered amongst it all. Think, the Mona Lisa.

Ludo - Something that has no objectively superior qualities yet it still resonates with the deepest confines of our soul. You can almost smell and taste the reciprocation of artistry seeping from the inner workings of the title. Think, Rembrandt – Self-Portrait with Two Circles

Bloodborne's kino details come moreso from the layering of each shots. The religious imagery as well as the thought provoking color work. The ludosphere comes from how it is all intertwined.

Everything from the Cleric beasts howls to the shrieks and moans of the locals "Away, Away!". It all invokes feelings so profound that many seem to make the amateurish mistake of thinking it's more kino when the reality is that it's more ludo.

The doll for instance, is a clear example of ludo. While clear, it's still not objective (as that goes against the very definition of ludo). It just is. The way the doll speaks, the voice, the tone, the chocolatey sound of it all. Even the wording of "The doll" makes the viewer sub consciously think of life altering questions, "Why are we here?".

Pure ludoscropy, it's happening before our eyes yet many of us don't really notice it.
