those phantom wail rumors are horseshit, that's just fucking Absolver. fromsoft is going to announce a new ip tho, not bloodborne 2 but it'll still be a sony exclusive. it's sci-fi souls.
the world isn't apocalyptic or its post-post apocalyptic, i couldn't tell, but it's dystopic and gone to shit. humans and androids coexisted but because of an energy crisis the humans live in a conclave and the androids are being genocided en masse to conserve energy. and the androids just look like people but they got nodes on their back and shit. you're a combat android found by a resistance that's trying to overthrow the regime and solve the energy crisis. very bladerunner vibe
the combat looked super fast like bloodborne but with jumping instead of rolling (!). the player guy threw his energy shield at a giant scorpion mech and then did a visceral. they also showed off a chain spear and a paired weapon of those sword/knife things you hold upside down. at the end they showed the title (CAPTIVE LEGEND) and march 2018

It's also a dumb enough departure for Miyazaki that I can see him trying to move weaponstyles on hand-to-hand combat and put it in a jungle setting.
Not feeling an Aztec theme, but it's definitely something different enough they'd try, and if it's only pseudo-native like Horizon, they have precedent to try it.
Miyazaki will turn it into gorgeous dark gothic architecture regardless. He's too depressed not to.
