How do you feel about towns in Heroes of Might and Magic 3?

i could never get into homm3, i preferred homm2

Castle is alright, most of it's units fit well even when they're not from your main faction.
Fortress has those Godly gorgons that are way too tanky in late game, not to mention that terrain penalty.
Rampant's only crappy units are drawfts and pegasi.

I always liked Rampart the most but really just by association with Sorceress faction. Still upset they moved fairies and phoenixes to Conflux because initial release of Heroes III was meant to look DARKER and GRITTIER than previous two titles.

Dungeon for me was one of the most broken factions, besides that mess that is Conflux, they get two ranged units and all it's units range to ok to extremely good, it's only downside is that they're really expensive, meaning a really slow early game. However even it's early game they have it easy with that bullshit mana poll that makes clearing out neutrals a walk in the park
